The Ghost lyTale Of The Disappearing Bus Passenger.

This was a ghost story that my late father in law told me nearly twenty years ago, his story goes back some twenty years before that he mentioned his ghostly tale to me. Around 1975 he was working as a bus driver in and around the Durham area, but this story is not about him rather a good friend of his who too was a bus driver for the same bus company.

On a late summers evening around about 10pm my father in laws friend, who was called Peter, was making his way back to the depot down the country lanes of Durham, he was driving a single decker bus the bus had a door for entry and a door further along the bus for passengers to exit the bus. With the bus empty of passengers as it was his last run back towards the bus depot office. As he was driving along he noticed a young lady at a bus stop with her hand out as though she was attempting to flag the bus, Peter duly obliged and opened the bus door for the young lady to step into the bus.

The young girl was approximately 20-24 looking from how Peter described her, she was however in a state of dishevelment and was crying, Peter apparently asked the girl if she was heading back towards Durham city centre, the young woman replied “yes”. As she was crying and upset Peter allowed her on the bus for free as he was heading back to the depot anyway. He told the woman that he would drop her off at a particular road in the city centre as he was heading off to the office.

The rest of the journey was uneventful for Peter, he occasionally looked in the mirror to see if the lady was ok, and had stopped crying. Peter was nearing the road where he had told the young girl he would have to drop her off.

As Peter opened the doors for her to leave, there was no sign of her or movement, so Peter believing her to be asleep walked down the whole bus to see if he could awaken her, to his utter horror there was no one else on the bus. In a state of complete shock Peter drove back to the depot, and called for assistance as he could not believe what had happened and he was absolutely shell shocked.

Over the next few days Peters story started to spread and it became apparent that years earlier a young woman of the mysterious passengers description, had been knocked over by a car in the same area that Peter had picked her up. The story went that she had just been to see her boyfriend and they had , had an almighty row, she ended up going home heading for a bus rather than let her boyfriend drive her home. As she walked to the bus stop crying she is alleged to have walked into the road in front of oncoming traffic, and she was sadly killed outright by a car. The actual time of Peter picking up the young lady was her said to be the anniversary of her death, what I do know is that Peter never worked again whatsoever, and as for the young woman she is said to walk the country lanes of Durham searching for a lift towards Durham city centre.

Ghost Hunting At The Thackray Medical Museum With Simply Ghost Nights 27th August 2011

The Simply Ghost Nights team were very honoured to be invited by the management of the Thackray Medical Museum to hold a ghost hunting event at this esteemed location, and for this kind offer we must thank the whole Thackray Medical staff for all their assistance in making the event run so well. And we hope to continue this friendship for many years to come.

This exclusive event certainly did not fail to live upto expectations regarding spirit the activity we may encounter, in the initial walk round the museum with our valiant ghost hunters the energies of everyone were certainly positive, this is something that the Simply Ghost Nights team have noticed the more positive energy and receptive to open up to their surroundings generally the more spirit activity our brave ghost hunters may witness or sense. With a packed house and the anticipation rising it was time to split up into smaller groups and go in search of ghostly communication at The Thackray Medical Museum.

In one vigil a group were listening and watching intently for tapping and to there amazement tapping started to proceed on request on the table, every time they tapped on the table the tapping would be copied by the unseen hands of a spectral resident of the museum. Terry witnessed the movement of dark shadows towards the far end of the room, and a significant amount of white light movement in the same area. The group watched in earnest as the light seemingly danced and grew in front of their eyes literally only metres from their faces, suddenly Clair then Emma very quickly screamed in terror to the shock of James and Matt and the rest of the group, both Clair and Emma nervously confessed that they had witnessed unknown to Stuart and in Clair’s very own words ‘
a ball of light over Stu’s head and then it disappeared into Stu’s shoulder!’

This incident totally freaked Emma out so much so that she had to comforted by the helpful Mark one of Simply Ghost Nights most experienced paranormal investigators. This episode of light phenomena was only the tip of the iceberg in our brave ghost hunter’s endeavour for phantom activity.

In the large television room another group witnessed strange unaccountable light phenomena repeatedly moving in the room, and again there was not any reasonable answer as from where these mysterious lights were originated from. In this area most of the groups experienced some excellent table work, such as ouija board and table tipping.

In the eerie replica street from Victorian times a group were again conducting a vigil when Clair screeched in terror as she claimed that a ghostly hand had stroked her back, with no one near her Clair found this totally bizarre and frightening. In the same area extremely loud bangs were heard on request again this amazed the whole group who listened intently for any spirit contact.

Jo and Steve were gob smacked to have picked up in one of their vigils the discarnate voice of a gentleman spirit on Jo’s electronic voice recorder, as hardened ghost hunters and paranormal investigators this had them both delighted to have picked up a fantastic gem of hard evidence, of a possible ghostly voice from the beyond the grave of a supernatural resident of the museum.

Mel and Simon both mentioned that when whistling and asking the ghostly occupants to copy the whistle, the spirits duly obliged and a whistling noise was heard to be mimicked to the group, although the whistle was almost identical except for a lower timbre than the one Mel had done. It seems that whistling was just not confined to one vigil or group, Rosey also mentioned in the replica street that the whole group listened in awe as they too heard whistling been repeated back to them from a section of the area where nobody was stood.

In some of the vigils K2 spikes were also prevalent when called out for on request, and also Karen, Tracey, and Julie considered the sight of a table tipping for the first time absolutely amazing and something they will not forget in a hurry they said.

In another vigil a group of ghost hunters experienced some fantastic ouija board results to the fascination of Phil, Andy and Sarah, however this was not the only vigil to experience results with ouija Mel and Simon described in a vigil how a group of ghost hunters had made contact with a spectral being at the museum. Lean, Sam and Jan all stated that the night had been a real eye opener with regards to paranormal activity that they had been privy to at this most haunted of locations.

On the whole it was a definitely a really active night for all concerned and as our brave ghost hunters made their way home, we all felt that the night was abound with so much activity that we could not possibly have anticipated so much and also as frequently. Although the majority of the activity is logged it has been really difficult to give justice to so much information we gathered, a casing point is the volume of whistling that was heard repeated back from the spirits of Thackray museum, the ghost hunters who felt the ghostly unseen hands touch them. Every team leader mentioned fantastic examples of glass divination on the ouija board and table tipping. The amount of light phenomena recorded too by each group was also staggering, it was just one of those nights that we will talk about for years to come and we cannot wait for Thackray Medical Museum Part Two.

As Mark said at the end of the night it was as though the ghostly residents had been bottled up for decades and were released from their catacomb and were only too glad to communicate and participate in spirit contact as much as they could

Ghost Hunting At The Lawns, Formerly Lincoln Lunatic Asylum, With Simply Ghost Nights, 4th September 2011.

Our ghost night at The Lawns was our inaugural event at this historic and grand building, we were greeted by a very helpful Daryl who made sure our brave ghost hunters did not go thirsty with an endless supply of tea and coffee to compliment the sumptuous buffet supplied by ourselves. Daryl was indeed a massive help in once again ensuring a full house of ghost hunters had a professionally ran paranormal investigation.

After a tour of the extensive building with it’s multitude of rooms, and hidden staircases to get ourselves acclimatised to the layout of The Lawns, it was time to commence our search for ghostly contact. In a vigil hosted by Rosey, Clair, John, Maggie, and Julie stood in awe as a table moved literally as though it was on wheels in a table tipping experiment. Rosey then described how the table danced along the wooden floor with each participants fingers slightly on the table, at one point Jo our intrepid investigator moved further away from the table and asked the table to follow, the table duly obliged in following Jo, then Rosey asked the group to take their fingers off the table and they then called out for the spirits in the room to move the table, suddenly to the delight also of Stephen and Karen the table proceeded to move with nobody’s hands near the table.

This phenomenon of a table moving by itself is something we have witnessed previously at other venues and it certainly gives some food for thought to any hardened sceptic who sees a table moving unassisted, possibly except from the spirit world. In fact Clair stated later that this one incident had changed her views completely on life after death.

In one of the upstairs rooms Stuart felt the spirit of a female called Francesca in the room, a séance was then started and the spirit of Francesca did indeed make contact with Emma, Sally, Megan, and the group of brave ghost hunters asked many questions to Francesca, who through glass divination informed the group that she had being a resident of the lawns due to the fact that she had given birth to an illegitimate girl called Elizabeth, this revelation had a sobering effect on the group and brought Cheryl, Sian and Lisa near to tears.

In a vigil hosted by Mark and Philip a group of ghost hunters were attempting ghostly contact via the ouija board when the spirit of a little girl came through, who entertained the group by claiming to have passed at the age of seven and sadly didn’t know the year she had passed, Sarah, Rosie, Jane and Michelle all chuckled when the spirit girl informed the group that she was frightened of Mark, the Simply Ghost Nights paranormal investigator, as an experienced investigator of many years Mark himself found this episode amusing.

Steve was conducting a vigil in the eerie Carholme Bar when the male spirit of a former patient of the Lawns proceeded to make contact with a fearless group of spirit seekers, the ghostly resident informed the group that he had lived their for many years until his death in the 19th century, the glass moved almost nonsensically most of the time in this vigil, it was as though the spirit was confused or just having a laugh at our questioning.

Some of the groups experienced some amazing spikes on the K2 which Mel and Simon claimed that even stunned them to the frequency of the spikes. There was some fantastic tapping on the table noted too, in one vigil the table knocked so loudly on request that it had Sadie, Rob and Laura opened mouthed at the knocking they heard.

Mel mentioned that some ghost hunters claimed that some of their electrical equipment started to go haywire, this was also mentioned by Clair and Stuart who also had their cameras what can only be described as interfered with by the spectral beings of The Lawns.

As the nights event came to a close we again spoke at length to the sheer volume of activity noted, again we can only assume that if you can provide an energetic approach to making spirit activity and with love and light, treating the spirit world with respect then they will more than likely to duly oblige in basically entertaining you with spirit activity, simply speaking you only usually get what you put into a paranormal investigation.

The Return To Gainsborough Old Nick, With Simply Ghost Nights 24th September 2011

Prior to our return to Gainsborough Old Nick Theatre the Simply Ghost Nights team wondered if this lovely old building would provide as much paranormal activity as we had witnessed in our previous visits to this most haunted of buildings. In fact the paranormal activity we witnessed surpassed anything we could have dreamed of, from a chair actually being thrown when no one was near it, to some awesome table tipping and a chair spinning on one leg, so sit down and be prepared to read a proper ghost story on a Simply Ghost Night.

Once again we must firstly offer our gratitude to John the curator of the Old Nick for his assistance in helping the event run so smoothly yet again. Whenever we visit this superb venue John always makes sure all the chairs are out and no request is too small for him to help us with.

One of the most incredible occurrences that happened at The Old Nick was when a group of ghost hunters were calling in a circle around a table out in the theatre, when all of a sudden in the corner of the room a really loud noise was heard, immediately Simply Ghost Nights experienced paranormal investigator Mark shone his torch in the area of the noise and to his and Rosey’s, Martin, Hannah, Sue’s and Mandy’s astonishment they all clearly saw a chair moving as if it had been thrown. No one was in the vicinity of the chair, this beggared the question who, or what had thrown the chair.

In another vigil in the theatre a different group of ghost hunters experienced activity in this remarkable building, Jo one of Simply Ghost Nights professional and caring team leaders was conducting an Ouija board experiment when the group begun communicating with a spirit with the initials H.W and he also stated that he was forty years old when he passed over and he had being a police officer there. The group also felt cold breezes under the table. Pauline and Hollie had their legs touched under the table. A black shadow was seen by all of the group to the amazement of Lee, Pauline, Susan, Clair, and Mark. Mark was stood in the corner when a mans face appeared directly in front of him as if intimidating him, the face of this spectral being was also seen by Jo herself, Clair, Sue, Lee and Pauline, and many more ghost hunters all confirmed seeing this face and all described the same crooked nose, who was this ghostly inhabitant of the old Nick who was seen by so many ghost hunters.

In a vigil in the men’s cells a group were communicating with Freddie on the Ouija, Freddie turned out to be a practical joker and didn't want to tell us much about himself. However he liked certain peoples voices all the women’s voices he would respond too, Freddie was certainly a ladies man and had all the women enthralled when they conducted a table tipping experiment, the table at one point was on one leg, and when ever Martin attempted to touch the table the table would move away from him much to the amusement of the remainder of the group.

All team leaders mentioned that in most of their vigils they had witnessed some excellent glass divination and table tipping, and again it must mentioned the number of ghost hunters who saw the eerie ghostly face with the crooked nose. Mel mentioned that in one of her vigils the sound of exhaling breathe was heard, this too was validated by other ghost hunters who had also heard the this strange noise.

The table tipping in the theatre was as described some of our best to date. At one time Sue, Hannah, Rosey and Becky had just one fingertip on each corner of the table and it duly obliged to dance around the theatre up on one leg with and what was amazing it had such small participation required from the group. We feel Freddie and his ghostly chums were very happy to communicate for us and as always we are now counting down the days until we return to one of our favourite location The Old Nick Theatre on Feb 4th 2012.

Ghost Hunting At R.A.F Holmpton With Simply Ghost Nights, 8th October 2011.

Well firstly we must thank James of R.A.F Holmpton for been an excellent host and truly helping the event run so smoothly and we thank him so much for that.

The team were so excited to be returning to literally this hidden gem of a haunted location, on our previous visit we had experienced all manner of paranormal phenomena and the highlight of the night was the sound of a brass bell audibly ringing with no one near the bell itself. How far would the spirits take us in our quest for spirit activity would we reach the dizzy heights of the stratosphere or would we remain grounded on the runway to a damp squib of a night of ghostly activity.

All groups experienced some fantastic table tipping especially in the medical room which had ‘big sceptic’ Dan absolutely bemused when the table was literally spinning around in a circle this sight also had Pam quizzically asking whether or not the table was in fact on wheels, she then looked underneath the table to see if their were wheels on the legs and in sheer disbelief she exclaimed “there’s no wheels, there proper legs”.

In one vigil, Jo Simply Ghost Nights experienced paranormal investigator was in a vigil in the map room, Jo’s group were using glass divination when the spirit communicated rather than give a name, the glass moved firstly over the letters and then proceeded over the numbers, Jo asked if this was the ghostly resident of R.A.F Holmpton’s forces identity number. The glass moved to yes, later on in the event Jo showed her findings to James, Holmpton’s knowledgeable host who informed us that the identity number was in fact a genuine identity number due to the letters that had been communicated, James also said that the letters and numbers disclosed by the spirit in the map room were indeed very rarely known about to anyone outside of the services.

Steve Simply Ghost Nights experienced paranormal investigator reported some excellent glass work in a vigil in the lower part of this huge subterranean building. And in the same vigil Steve also explained how the table rocked to and fro in attempting spirit communication with a former worker at Holmpton, this had Graham and Tony enthralled.

In the medical bay Stuart attempted a human pendulum experiment and to the absolute shock and bewilderment of Anthony, (who claimed to a big sceptic), he began to move backwards and forwards in response to the questions our brave ghost hunters asked. In this vigil we gathered from the spirit world through the human pendulum of Anthony that we were interacting with a female spirit who had worked there before passing over to the other side. At the end of the event Anthony did state that he had now experienced something to give him another thing to think about regarding life after death, as he reiterated his own experience in the human pendulum experiment and confirmed that he actually felt as though he was been pushed backwards and forwards by the ghostly unseen hands at R.A.F. Holmpton.

As we were once again beaten by the clock and the amiable James informed our bemused ghost hunters regarding the authenticity of the secret identity number, that the a ghostly tenant of Holmpton had divulged to Jo and her group, it’s times like these when a factual piece of evidence is passed on to us through communication from the spirit world, you can then realise the captivating paranormal world in which we are so blessed to see and behold on a regular basis, the spirit world only want to contact and converse with us as we have found on the majority of our Simply Ghost Night events.

Wednesday, 21 December 2011

Yet again our hosts on a ghost event could not have been more welcoming so a big thank you to Paul, Doug, Kim, Clair, Sheila, and Craig for all your help and assistance.

The event at Lincoln gaol had the Simply Ghost Nights team absolutely stunned at the amount and variety of ghostly activity, for example tables standing on one leg with no one touching the table, light phenomena, banging, tapping, incarnate voices and even more recorded activity was mentioned by the team.

In the men’s wing experienced paranormal investigators Rosey and Jo were holding a table tipping experiment, the table tipped onto two legs and then onto one leg, Rosey and Jo stated that next, they asked the remaining ghost hunter at the table to remove their hands from the table, one of the most shocking things both had ever witnessed happened, the table then stood motionless for about five or sic seconds with no one holding the table and the table still on one leg. As a group we have witnessed some extraordinary things but for Rosey, Jo and the group of ghost hunters they had never witnessed the like as what they saw in the men’s wing.

In the women’s wing with experienced paranormal investigator Steve, a group of ghost hunters started spectral communication with a 26 year old spirit called Sara, through glass divination Sarah described that she had died in the prison infirmary during childbirth. She had been in prison a year at the time which made the group suspicious of how she had become pregnant. She claimed to be very sad and was looking for her "baba" as she put it.

The story may have had some truth as one of the volunteers of Lincoln gaol Doug, confirmed that there are records of women called Sarah dying during childbirth at that period. We were also informed by Sarah that the Matron wasn’t a pleasant person to come across, and that she and the Governor were together, this was confirmed by the Doug also, the group probed further and found out that the child was an illegitimate child of the governor himself who had been married to the matron and, according to Sarah. The group were very sad about Sarah and she responded by saying that the group were very kind and considerate to her.

After this the group asked for another spirit to come on the table and a male spirit did who asked us to guess his name, Doug guessed the name John and it proved to be accurate as the governor himself. Doug then asked questions which no one around the table would have known the answers to the following.

What did John enjoy looking at? To which the spirit spelt out “stars”. Doug confirmed that John was an avid astronomer.

Doug asked another question what building did he have built? The answer being the observatory which John confirmed via the ouija board.

John was very damning about his activities describing Sarah as "dirty" and showed no remorse at all, indeed through glass divination he swore at the group when our poor opinions of him came out. When the table tipping started he made his anger very apparent with very violent movements of the table.

In the female wing a group of ghost hunters also experienced some fantastic table tipping and when the laser pen was placed so that a ‘curtain of light’ was placed at one end of the wing as to detect any spirit movement or dark shadows, the spirit world duly obliged on request to interfere with the laser pen. This amazed John, Sean, Karen and Gary when the green light actually went darker and lit back up on request to everyone’s consternation.

Steve also mentioned in a vigil that a group of ghost hunters were watching dark shadow movements when he took the temperature with the temperature a gun and was astounded to find a 7 degree drop in the room temperature that he had recorded only minutes earlier.

The use of the ouija board produced enthralling results as stated earlier also a spirit called George Baines made contact from the other side and claimed to have died in the gaol in 1845. And many groups heard water dripping in a few vigil areas but could find no trace of any water or a leak on a rainless night, apparently this phenomena is not new to the gaol staff who informed us that it had been reported previously unknown to the Simply Ghost Nights team.

In the chapel a group were calling out for spirit rapping’s or other forms of contact when to their utter surprise they heard an incarnate voice from beyond the grave that had Sean, Maxine, Lucy and Sheila totally bemused as what had made the noise from the empty balcony above them. However this was not the only case of an ethereal guttural noise has Rosey said that in a vigil in the men’s wing they too heard a similar noise, also we must also make reference to the group vigil in the main meeting room where all the ghost hunters observed a plethora of K2 activity on calling out, and many of the group also heard the same groaning noises from the adjoining room of the main room.

In the female wing a group were calling out for any spectral contact when they clearly heard the sound of metal on metal on request and a heavy door open by itself to the shock of Andrew, Gary, Sarah, and Bev. The banging they all heard literally scared Joanne witless but Stuart calmed her down, as the group called for more banging and tapping the spirits again obliged, the group listened on as the banging and tapping increased on request, no such noises were made until the group asked the spirit world to commence tapping and banging, also the new batteries in the laser pen had to be replaced twice, had the spirits of Lincoln gaol drained the batteries?

Yet again the sound of water dripping was heard clear as a bell in the room, as the group looked for water on the floor the night had almost finished, but what a night it had been, table tipping, doors opening, glass divination, incarnate voices, the list of activity goes on, all who attended the ghost event that night would surely not forgot what that saw, heard, or felt at Lincoln Gaol.

Our time at Lincoln Gaol came to an end and we thanked all our brave guests, the Lincoln gaol staff, and the spirit world for making it such a memorable event on a Simply Ghost Night.

Ghost Hunting At Nottingham Galleries Of Justice With Simply Ghost Nights 22nd July 2011

The paranormal investigation at the Galleries of justice ran so smoothly and professionally in and in no small part to Ian our host for the night at this spooky venue. The Simply Ghost nights and the ghost hunters who attended the event were treated to some amazing spirit activity and one particular incident will remain with all those that witnessed it forever.

After a tour of the building and a sumptuous buffet the Simply Ghost Nights team and the brave ghost hunters attempted spirit communication in the court room of the galleries, on calling out for banging and tapping Rosey placed a K2 meter on the desk in front of her. Rosey proceeded to call out for the ghostly residents of the galleries to go to the green light on the k2, however many within the group suddenly noticed that a green light along the balcony of the court house began to dim on Rosey’s request to go to the green light. Every time the group then asked for spirit to go to the green light, the green light on the balcony would dim yet again on request. Not once did the K2 meter spike but the green light on the balcony definitely dimmed on request as though a spectral child was placing their hand in front of the light.

This incident delighted the entire group as it was a group vigil to begin the night’s paranormal investigation, each of and everyone of the group who saw it all admitted they would never forget the instance as long as they live.

After this we then all went our separate ways and split up into smaller groups of ghost hunters to see what the ghostly inhabitants of the galleries would participate in spirit communication. All the groups mentioned that they had experienced some excellent table tipping, and in a séance the spirit of a debtor had made his presence known, by informing the group that he was called Sam and that he had lived in Nottingham, but had ended up in the gaol for the debts that he could not pay back.

In the cells a group of ghost hunters were attempting spirit communication when Philip one of fantastic

our paranormal investigators asked the spirits to copy him whistling, and to the amazement the spectral beings obliged in whistling back to the sound of Philip whistling, this occurrence happened on numerous occasions when Philip whistled and asked them to whistle back to him. This amazed the entire vigil group that heard the whistling of the ghostly resident of Nottingham Galleries of Justice.

As a paranormal event per se the activity we encountered was frequent and exciting, but nothing could come close in excitement and sheer exhilaration as when the spirit child kept interfering with the green light in the court room. We have discussed this incident at length and attempted to come to a more natural conclusion, such as the possibility of a moth for example was in front of the green light, maybe an insect too, however the more we thought about a reason for the activity we witnessed the more we could only conclude that a spectral being was the culprit for the inference of the green light in the court room of the Galleries of Justice.

When Simply Ghost Nights Went Ghost Hunting At Gainsborough Old Hall, 25th June 2011

It had been some years since the team had last visited this historic Tudor building and what a return awaited us and our intrepid group of brave ghost hunters. From the initial walk round the eerie atmosphere grew. As we rambled around the corridors and splendid rooms on our brief tour of the vigil areas, there was an air of trepidation of how the spirit world would possibly communicate with us.

As the groups went their separate ways to the vigil areas who could have guessed how the nights investigation would unfold. There was so many significant incidents it is really hard to know where to start, but we must firstly mention that Rosey our fearless and brave paranormal investigator claimed that this was the scariest place she had been to.

Rosey story starts in Catherine Howard’s bedroom, at first Corin mentioned that he felt somebody touching his neck and it was scaring him, Rosey asked for the unseen hands of the spirit realm to leave Corin alone as he was beginning to freak out. The next moment the whole group heard the noise of a metal bowl been hit, Jo 2 suddenly squealed that she felt something touch her face and then Rosey’s chair began to move and jerk inexplicably, she then knocked three times on her chair and the group all heard the sound of the chair been kicked.

The group asked for a tapping noise and almost immediately they heard the sound of constant tapping for around five seconds, from across the room. As the vigil continued the paranormal activity continued with members of the group experiencing cool breezes on them, and a light groan was heard as well, as the tapping continued on request it all got too much for Corin as he became more agitated, it was then that Rosey radioed for Mark our bravest of paranormal investigators to come to the vigil area and stand with Corin to reassure him.

Numerous groups recorded torches been turned on by the spirit world, and the movement of dark shadows were also spotted by our keen eyed ghost hunters. In one glass divination experiment the spirit of a lady called Jane Guy communicated to inform the group that she had worked at the hall when it was a linen factory, and that she had passed away with dysentery with many co-workers at the linen factory in 1929, and Jane also mentioned her grandads name a Mr. Fawbes, to the amazement of Michelle, Pat, and Lauren. Also a cat ball with a bell in it was thrown by the group and it rolled back from the empty darkness by the invisible hands of the spirit realm, this too stunned Sarah and Shelley.

In the panelled room the spirit of William came through in a glass divination experiment, William had a deep rooted dislike to women and he demonstrated this when asked who on the table he did not like, the table literally went in a circle in turn to all the women seated at it, when asked who he liked at the table it instantly tipped towards Stuart, with the groups help and assistance Stuart arranged a date with William.

In the tower room a group of ghost hunters made ghostly contact through glass divination with the spirit of Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry the VIII who was imprisoned in the tower room before her untimely death by beheading. She confessed her love for Thomas Culpeper who she is said to have had an affair with which led to ultimately to her execution. As the vigil continued the group attempted a table tipping experiment to the shock and excitement of first time ghost hunters Lisa and Kerry. In the ballroom a group of ghost hunters were table tipping when the table moved on request in turn to the astonishment of Mel, Patrick, Stephen and Karen.

As the nights investigation drew to a close and we all met up for our debrief about the ghostly events that everyone had seen and felt, the consensus by all the ghost hunters was that it had been an eventful and active night and as we said our goodbyes and thanked our ghost hunters for joining us and participating with an open mind and positive energy. Mark summed up the evening simply by saying that underneath the Tudor veneer of a majestic building lies a different realm to our own.

Ghost Hunting At Drakelow Tunnels, Kidderminster, With Simply Ghost Nights 26th November 2011

Firstly we must thank Susannah, Steve and their lovely team in helping us on this extraordinary venue for a ghost hunt.

This was Simply Ghost Nights first but certainly not last visit to these fantastic tunnels, originally the tunnels were constructed to house the machinery to build parts for the war effort in the Second World War, and then they were used by the M.O.D in the cold war era. With this knowledge we could not wait to explore the labyrinth of approximately 5 miles of tunnels and ante rooms in the pitch dark as there was no electricity, with our torches at the ready and new batteries ready in earnest it was time for the Simply Ghost Nights team and our fellow ghost hunters to enter the ghostly realm at Drakelow tunnels.

The amount of varying activity witnessed by our brave ghost hunters provided a wide spectrum of results that were carefully noted down by the Simply Ghost Nights team, In a vigil with Stuart and Dee a group of ghost hunters experienced some fantastic table tipping where the table went up on one leg and then spun in a circle to the utter shock of, Carla, Vicky, Faye, Hayley and Nicola. Also in this vigil the group were all holding hands just above the table asking for the spirits of the Drakelow Tunnels to move the table when the table slid along the concrete floor with no one touching it, this incident would be repeated by other groups too.

In a vigil off tunnel 2 Paul, Laura, Robert, and Alison also experienced an exhibition of table tipping form the spirit world and also made contact with the ghostly residents of Drakelow tunnels on the ouija board, they entered in communication with the spirits of Bob, Brian, and Evvie. All three spirits claimed to have worked in the tunnels in the 1940s which fascinated the group. Also in another vigil area in the bowels of the tunnels Stuart, Becky, Sophie and Tony were holding hands around a K2 meter, as the group were calling out for spirit communication when inexplicably a sudden white bright light manifested itself in the room from nowhere to the shock of the four brave ghost hunters. There was no other light source around and all their torches were off, these light phenomena certainly had everyone puzzled.

As mentioned previously regarding tables moving by themselves Rosey, Jo and Steve stated that in a vigil, a group of ghost hunters witnessed a table literally leap in front of their eyes with no one near the table to the shock of the whole group.

In another vigil in the lost world of the tunnels a fearless group of ghost hunters made contact with a spectral tenant of the tunnels who went by the initials of C.B. C.B delighted the group when he answered their questions regarding his working life at the tunnels via the ouija board.

In a vigil in the kitchen area with our experienced team leader Mark and Philip, the atmosphere of the tunnels got too much for one of our ghost hunters who suddenly fainted, but after a five minute break she carried on regardless again with the paranormal investigation.

We also had reports of ghostly faces appearing in front of our ghost hunters and then vanishing to their horror and also some groups recorded incidents of items being thrown and heard in vacant rooms nearby.

All in all it was an amazing night for all of us who participated in a ghost hunt at Drakelow tunnels, and the Simply Ghost Nights team thanked all our brave ghost hunters who joined us and the spirits for their efforts in communicating with us.
