On a recent ghost hunting event with the Simply Ghost Nights team, we were holding a small vigil in a large country hall. We were attempting spirit communication through glass divination, and having no luck what so ever. We then all held hands in the group to build up energy, we were still calling out when one of the group called Mark left the group to investigate a strange noise in the corner of the room.
As he walked over one of mark’s friends said jokingly in a very quiet whisper “hit me on the head, I’m the one with the bald head” as Mark had a bald head and his friend had a full set of hear it was clear that the gesture although in jest was made so that the ghostly population of Smithhills hall, would then indeed hit Mark on the head. As Mark was no longer in the circle and was definitely out of ear shot of the group as he investigated the earlier noise, mark suddenly exclaimed, “oh I’ve been hit on my face” no sound similar to a slap was heard, but Mark’s heartfelt plea certainly was.

On inspection of his face it was found to have the red outline of something very like three fingers across his face, Mark stated that he felt the pain but did not hear a thing just like us, who were still sat in a circle absolutely amazed at the proceedings. It was suggested that we attempt ghostly interaction through glass divination, the group began calling out and using the glass on a Ouija board.

The glass started to move and after a while the group managed to gleam the information that the actual spirit that had indeed hit Mark on the head, was in fact called Charles and he was playing along with the group and he was sorry for causing the red hand prints on Marks face. We also learned that Charles had worked at the hall many years ago, although he could not remember the year he was born he remembered the year he had died and it was 1854. We felt sorry for Charles as he said through the Ouija board that he had, had a hard life and suffered terribly with many ailments and his health was never the best. The group felt compassion and sorrow for Charles as he had suffered a poor life on the earthly plane. He did however inform us that he moved backwards and forwards between the spirit world and our world, and he was reunited with his wife Sarah and two children, Robert and Charles, He continued that they lost six other children too and they too were with them in the spirit world spirit too.

Our pity for Mark’s injury soon passed ant the group were more concerned with the well being of Charles as we watched intently as the glass and also K2 spikes proceeded to be used in communication

The return Ghost Hunt at Doncaster Air Museum, with Simply Ghost Nights. - 23rd Apr 2011

As we arrived at The Doncaster air Museum we were greeted by the ever amiable Alan, who is always the perfect host on a ghost hunting event at this great location. As the team aired their views prior to the event commencing, we could not envisage the amount paranormal activity the spirit world would provide our ghost hunters. As with all our ghost hunting events we have found that positive energy, and laughter bring out the best results from the ghostly inhabitants of any location, and again we had a group of positive ghost hunters who could have literally boiled a kettle with the energy they created.
The ghostly activity actually started before the event had begun as Mark one of our fantastic team leaders walked around to hangar 21, to set up the meet and greet room we were to hold there he apparently saw the shadowy eerie figure of a cat walk approximately five yards in front of him and then disappear as quickly as it appeared he then proceeded to look all over for the mystery sighting of this ghoulish feline but to no avail, however the phantom cat would come back later on to haunt one of our groups in a vigil in hangar 21 with frightening consequences.
After the meet and greet we held a group vigil in hangar 21, the energies in the room were at fever pitch as we all heard tapping and banging on request, and in one incident the sound of footsteps walking the corridors were heard, as Mark and Philip our intrepid investigators rushed out to investigate the corridor, they found nobody at all and no reason for the audible footsteps we all heard.
As we then went our separate ways our feelings were that the nights activity was just about to take off literally, at The Doncaster Air Museum. In one vigil in hangar 21 Steve a veteran ghost hunter saw what appeared to be someone walk past a window, however when he and team leader Rosey immediately ran outside to see if it was anyone walking about, however Steve whooped with delight as he and Rosey agreed there was no where for this figure to go as it was a dead end that was surrounded by an 8ft high fence, this could only mean one thing that Steve may have seen an apparition, once he had calmed down he was staggered to realise that when he first saw the figure walk by one window, he never saw it continue to the next window along the building, this confirmed his view he had in fact seen a ghostly apparition.
This would not be the only amazing incident in hangar 21, a group were attempting table tipping in the main display room, when the K2 suddenly spiked into the red zone and repeated this for almost a minute on request, but what happened next neither Jamie or Mark an experienced ghost hunter could explain, when out of the blue a large flash of light lit up the room, as though someone had taken a flash photograph, but no one had taken a photo and the flash was only a couple of metres from the group. With no obvious explanation of how, why or what had caused the light phenomena we continued the remainder of the vigil in a state of excitement. In the same vigil Sam and Stu both turned around to look at the main door of hangar 21, after seeing a dark shadow at the door, half expecting to see the door open due to the imminent arrival of a ghost hunter. But no one arrived to open the door, however this was not the only recorded sighting of a dark shadow to be seen at the Doncaster Air Museum.
One episode will remain in the memory of many a ghost hunter who heard the heart rending cat crying in hangar 21, the group investigated thoroughly for any sign of the mystery feline but could not find no sign of a cat, was this the same ghostly apparition Mark had seen in the same area only hours before, and shockingly both Wendy and Dee had unexplained scratches on their arms after their vigils in hangar 21. Can these mystical scratches be attributed to the ghostlike cat that haunts the other side at Doncaster Air Museum?
In the main hangar a French pilot made his presence known in a glass divination experiment, he called himself Jacques and responded when the energetic Philip said Viva Le France, and the glass proceeded to increase speed and ferocity. In the same vigil the group were staggered when a German mechanic made contact through the glass divination experiment he claimed to be called Heinrich and was said to be attached to a German plane part from the Second world war that is in the museum. As the group said their goodbyes to Jacques the infra red motion detectors both Mark and Philip had set up inexplicably went off. Philip said he considered this was how Jacques would say goodbye to the group.
The groups experienced some fantastic results from the Franks box, such as names in the vigil group been called out and the most crude of industrial language ever used was also heard from the Franks box to the alarm of all who were in earshot. However the most fascinating incident was when Mel one of our mediums said in German “you are my darling I love you” and the Frank’s box immediately stopped on a love song. Coincidence or the results of spectral white noise, the evidence we have correlated using the Frank’s box in the last four months is in our view that they are an instrument of communication from the spirit world.
All our groups experienced some aggressive table tipping even to the point that the table tipped on command to each of the ghost hunters in turn. Mandy, Jo and Tony were in shock at the sight of this spectacle and also they were amazed at the banging on request they all heard in the Main Hangar. However Marie was left speechless as she and Brenda, Shelley, Sam, Dee and Tony all witnessed the table rock to and fro as they held their hands hovering above the table, with nobody making contact with the table at all.
As we were beaten by the clock yet again and the time had flew past once more, the Simply Ghost Nights team could only be in awe at the amount of activity we had all seen, this again affirmed our belief that with positive energy, laughter, and fun the spirit world will entertain, however if you are stoic and languid the spirit world will not come out to play.

Ghost Hunting at Whittington Castle, Oswestry, with the Simply Ghost Nights team.

It was a cloudless night when the team arrived at this haunted location situated in Oswestry just on the English and Welsh borders. The castle itself was now a museum and during the day was open to the public, but tonight the Simply Ghost Nights team were hoping for only the visitors to be of a ghostly nature.
After an initial walk around the various buildings of the castle, it was clear that we were not alone, we all felt that we were been followed and watched and our feelings were to proven correct because as we walked down a flight of stairs three of the team, Stuart, Mark and Philip saw the dark shadow of a man move from left to right on the staircase and then vanish. The team were so excited at this revelation that on returning to the café to have a coffee break we could not wait to resume our paranormal investigation of Whittington Castle.
We decided to hold our first vigil in the Coffee shop area of the Castle, this area was the oldest of part of the castle, as we carried out temperature checks in the coffee shop, Rosey declared that there had been numerous temperature spikes in the passing seconds as the temperature gun had stated 18 degrees and had gone down to 11 degrees, before going upto 20 degrees and the weather outside was quite fair for the month of May.
As the team carried out a table tipping experiment, Tony a first time ghost hunter squealed in delight as the table tipped alarmingly into his legs as we had requested the spirit world to do. The ghostly inhabitants of this former castle continued to entertain us with their power and facility to remember our names as we asked the spirits to tip the table to each of us by name.
We then ventured upstairs of the castle the group were staggered to hear the deathly groan coming from within the vigil room, at the same time we noticed some spiking on then K2 meters, we then asked for tapping or knocking on the table, after a few minutes the spirit world dully obliged and we had the most wondrous tapping on request the Simply Ghost Nights team had heard.
With the nights excitement drawing to a close the ghostly population of Whittington Castle had one more incident in store for us, Rosey suddenly said “who’s pulled my hair” everyone said “not me” as one, and no one was within 3 foot of Rosey as she described that something had tugged at the side of her hair, none of the group could not feasibly have done this without Rosey seeing the culprit, this left Rosey shaken as she knew that her hair had in fact been pulled by the unseen hands of the paranormal world.

Simply Ghost Nights were staggered when the spirit of Emily Bronte, made ghostly communication.

What a night of paranormal activity we at Simply Ghost Nights experienced in the Black Bull Haworth, Bradford, England, which is in the centre of the world famous novelists, the Bronte sisters country. They used to live in the parsonage which is in close proximity to the Black Bull.

On a recent ghost hunt, we had ghostly communication with a spirit from the other side, who claimed to be none other than Emily Bronte, with a group of ghost hunters who were participating in a glass divination experiment. In a vigil in the restaurant area, the group were participating in glass divination, they had gleamed that the spirit communicating with them was a lady, when they asked the lady to spell her first name. It spelt out, E.M.I.L.Y, and one of our ghost hunters exclaimed, “is it Emily Bronte”.

The glass moved to yes, this left the group ecstatic and delighted, the group continued at length communicating with the world famous author to their joy and amazement.
Everyone in the room felt both honoured and privileged to be communicating with such a world famous spirit.

The group asked many questions and received many 'yes and no's' to their questions. We asked each ghost hunter who was part of the investigation using the glass, to remove their finger in turn as to rule out any tomfoolery. Everyone was satisfied that there was no trickery at all.

Ghost hunting at R.A.F Holmpton

The Simply Ghost Nights team head eastewards towards Holmpton, near Hull. This coming Friday in search of paranormal activity from the spirit world. Will we witness table tipping, spikes in our electrical equipment, or other paranormal phenomena.

The ghostly bus passenger, who disappeared.

This was a ghost story that my late father in law told me nearly twenty years ago, his story goes back some twenty years before that he mentioned his ghostly tale to me. Around 1975 he was working as a bus driver in and around the Durham area, but this story is not about him rather a good friend of his who too was a bus driver for the same bus company.

On a late summers evening around about 10pm my father in laws friend, who was called Peter, was making his way back to the depot down the country lanes of Durham, he was driving a single decker bus the bus had a door for entry and a door further along the bus for passengers to exit the bus. With the bus empty of passengers as it was his last run back towards the bus depot office. As he was driving along he noticed a young lady at a bus stop with her hand out as though she was attempting to flag the bus, Peter duly obliged and opened the bus door for the young lady to step into the bus.

The young girl was approximately 20-24 looking from how Peter described her, she was however in a state of dishevelment and was crying, Peter apparently asked the girl if she was heading back towards Durham city centre, the young woman replied “yes”. As she was crying and upset Peter allowed her on the bus for free as he was heading back to the depot anyway. He told the woman that he would drop her off at a particular road in the city centre as he was heading off to the office.

The rest of the journey was uneventful for Peter, he occasionally looked in the mirror to see if the lady was ok, and had stopped crying. Peter was nearing the road where he had told the young girl he would have to drop her off. As Peter opened the doors for her to leave, there was no sign of her or movement, so Peter believing her to be asleep walked down the whole bus to see if he could awaken her, to his utter horror there was no one else on the bus. In a state of complete shock Peter drove back to the depot, and called for assistance as he could not believe what had happened and he was absolutely shell shocked.

Over the next few days Peters story started to spread and it became apparent that years earlier a young woman of the mysterious passengers description, had been knocked over by a car in the same area that Peter had picked her up. The story went that she had just been to see her boyfriend and they had , had an almighty row, she ended up going home heading for a bus rather than let her boyfriend drive her home. As she walked to the bus stop crying she is alleged to have walked into the road in front of oncoming traffic, and she was sadly killed outright by a car.

The actual time of Peter picking up the young lady was her said to be the anniversary of her death, what I do know is that Peter never worked again whatsoever, and as for the young woman she is said to walk the country lanes of Durham searching for a lift towards Durham city centre.

The Ghostly Latin chanting we heard at on a ghost hunt

It was a dark cold March night in 2005, when I travelled to participate in a paranormal investigation with an amateur group of ghost hunters from the Yorkshire region of the United Kingdom. It was before I had gone down the path of running my own ghost hunting company Simply Ghost Nights.

It was my fourth ghost hunt and the adrenalin was pumping through my veins as we descended the cobblestone road, treading very carefully as not to slip on the wet and slippy surface. We had parked our cars in the car park, however we then had a treacherous 1000 metres walk down the steep slope to our vigil area.

An old Abbey that had been destroyed by King Henry’s VIII men under the Dissolution of Monasteries act in 1536. There was not much left of the abbey now, there are some pillars that are about 20 metres tall, masonry laying a strewn in various areas of the land. In particular there was a section with a roof that was kind of built into some caves, which hid us from the elements on this evening that had by coincidence a full moon.
As the wind grew ever more stronger during the proceedings, we had some spikes on the E.M.F meters and in a vigil we could see the most extraordinary lights from in and around some of the brickworks that was fenced up. The most sobering thought regarding the light phenomena was that we were the only people around, and we were 200 - 300 metres below the road, what caused these bizarre lihts we could not guess.

The highlight of the night was when we were all in the sheltered section of the abbey, we began to call out for spirit communication whilst recording with a tape recorder, what happened next sent chills down everyone ones spine, and still does to this day it is still one of the most puzzling voice phenomena I have heard.
After calling out for a length of time we then played the tape recorder back, with total amazement we could hear our group calling out, however in the background we could hear unbelievably monks chanting in what can only be described as Latin in the background, with what seemed like wooden plates being placed on a wooden table.

As I write this it still sends a chill down my back, unfortunately we deleted the recording to our dismay a few days later whilst trying to show some friends the evidence. Even now Rosey (my wife), we still debate whether it was residual energy trapped in the brickwork or was it a visitation, one things for sure we intend to visit again when the weather gets a little warmer.

Strange ghostly voices heard in a former Abbey

About myself.

My name is Stuart Dawson I am a psychic medium and also the owner of an events company called Simply Ghost Nights, I am also a practicing spiritualist too.
I have seen many things you could call paranormal, supernatural or words to that effect. My aim is to give examples of life after death, not to shoe horn anyone, or brain wash them into believing what I tell them. I want to bring evidence that is built on excellent foundations, not to be laughed at or debunked, I’d like to bring my beliefs into the public domain , so that they can debated maybe disproved of, but as long as I can give people some food for thought, then I can say that I have being successful in my goal.

The day I saw a full bodied apparition.

Some years ago before I started up Simply Ghost Nights whilst taking part in a ghost hunt at Doncaster Air Museum, I was in a group of fellow ghost hunters in the middle of a vigil, just calling out for some form of spirit communication. We were sat in the large hangar that was said to be where the planes were repaired during the second world war, and prior to that had been Doncaster’s international airport.

The night was a cloudless summer night, it was also a rather mild time of the night too. The group was in good spirits all ready in anticipation for a night of ghost hunting, the adrenalin was starting to pump around the body of all of us. We were calling out for spirit activity when suddenly five of the group saw the solid mass of a human shape move directly pass the larger than normal doorway.

We immediately ran to the doorway to investigate who, or what had fleeted past the door, but not a soul was to be seen in the few seconds we had taken to reach the doorway they had literally disappeared
from the whole area when we reached the doorway we inadvertently set off the security lights, but most shockingly outside the hangar there was pea gravel all around the area of the Air museum, which when the ghost hunters walked on it made an incredible noise that could be heard from our chairs in the hangar., however

We had heard no noise from the visitation we had all seen, and another sobering thought also materialised. The figure literally walked straight through the disabled hand rails that lead into the hangar doorway. As we added up all this information the cold realisation hit each and everyone of us that we had indeed been, very fortunate to have come within metres of a full bodied apparition.
I asked Alan who was staffing the air museum that night, whether anyone else could have walked by the doorway as the figure we had seen was much bigger than Alan’s, Alan stated that no one else was on the grounds as the gates were all locked and the high fencing was quite difficult to climb up and the security light would have come on in the event of someone walking in.

The group all commented that we must have indeed seen a full bodied apparition, as in all our endeavours to point to the figure being human, we could not see how it was possible for a human figure to walk by the security lights without setting them off, how no noise was heard from the figure walking on the surrounding pea gravel, and there was no trace or sign immediately after the incident. The ghost hunters who witnessed this still chat about the time, we all saw a full bodied apparition at Doncaster Air Museum.
