The Ghost lyTale Of The Disappearing Bus Passenger.

This was a ghost story that my late father in law told me nearly twenty years ago, his story goes back some twenty years before that he mentioned his ghostly tale to me. Around 1975 he was working as a bus driver in and around the Durham area, but this story is not about him rather a good friend of his who too was a bus driver for the same bus company.

On a late summers evening around about 10pm my father in laws friend, who was called Peter, was making his way back to the depot down the country lanes of Durham, he was driving a single decker bus the bus had a door for entry and a door further along the bus for passengers to exit the bus. With the bus empty of passengers as it was his last run back towards the bus depot office. As he was driving along he noticed a young lady at a bus stop with her hand out as though she was attempting to flag the bus, Peter duly obliged and opened the bus door for the young lady to step into the bus.

The young girl was approximately 20-24 looking from how Peter described her, she was however in a state of dishevelment and was crying, Peter apparently asked the girl if she was heading back towards Durham city centre, the young woman replied “yes”. As she was crying and upset Peter allowed her on the bus for free as he was heading back to the depot anyway. He told the woman that he would drop her off at a particular road in the city centre as he was heading off to the office.

The rest of the journey was uneventful for Peter, he occasionally looked in the mirror to see if the lady was ok, and had stopped crying. Peter was nearing the road where he had told the young girl he would have to drop her off.

As Peter opened the doors for her to leave, there was no sign of her or movement, so Peter believing her to be asleep walked down the whole bus to see if he could awaken her, to his utter horror there was no one else on the bus. In a state of complete shock Peter drove back to the depot, and called for assistance as he could not believe what had happened and he was absolutely shell shocked.

Over the next few days Peters story started to spread and it became apparent that years earlier a young woman of the mysterious passengers description, had been knocked over by a car in the same area that Peter had picked her up. The story went that she had just been to see her boyfriend and they had , had an almighty row, she ended up going home heading for a bus rather than let her boyfriend drive her home. As she walked to the bus stop crying she is alleged to have walked into the road in front of oncoming traffic, and she was sadly killed outright by a car. The actual time of Peter picking up the young lady was her said to be the anniversary of her death, what I do know is that Peter never worked again whatsoever, and as for the young woman she is said to walk the country lanes of Durham searching for a lift towards Durham city centre.

Ghost Hunting At The Thackray Medical Museum With Simply Ghost Nights 27th August 2011

The Simply Ghost Nights team were very honoured to be invited by the management of the Thackray Medical Museum to hold a ghost hunting event at this esteemed location, and for this kind offer we must thank the whole Thackray Medical staff for all their assistance in making the event run so well. And we hope to continue this friendship for many years to come.

This exclusive event certainly did not fail to live upto expectations regarding spirit the activity we may encounter, in the initial walk round the museum with our valiant ghost hunters the energies of everyone were certainly positive, this is something that the Simply Ghost Nights team have noticed the more positive energy and receptive to open up to their surroundings generally the more spirit activity our brave ghost hunters may witness or sense. With a packed house and the anticipation rising it was time to split up into smaller groups and go in search of ghostly communication at The Thackray Medical Museum.

In one vigil a group were listening and watching intently for tapping and to there amazement tapping started to proceed on request on the table, every time they tapped on the table the tapping would be copied by the unseen hands of a spectral resident of the museum. Terry witnessed the movement of dark shadows towards the far end of the room, and a significant amount of white light movement in the same area. The group watched in earnest as the light seemingly danced and grew in front of their eyes literally only metres from their faces, suddenly Clair then Emma very quickly screamed in terror to the shock of James and Matt and the rest of the group, both Clair and Emma nervously confessed that they had witnessed unknown to Stuart and in Clair’s very own words ‘
a ball of light over Stu’s head and then it disappeared into Stu’s shoulder!’

This incident totally freaked Emma out so much so that she had to comforted by the helpful Mark one of Simply Ghost Nights most experienced paranormal investigators. This episode of light phenomena was only the tip of the iceberg in our brave ghost hunter’s endeavour for phantom activity.

In the large television room another group witnessed strange unaccountable light phenomena repeatedly moving in the room, and again there was not any reasonable answer as from where these mysterious lights were originated from. In this area most of the groups experienced some excellent table work, such as ouija board and table tipping.

In the eerie replica street from Victorian times a group were again conducting a vigil when Clair screeched in terror as she claimed that a ghostly hand had stroked her back, with no one near her Clair found this totally bizarre and frightening. In the same area extremely loud bangs were heard on request again this amazed the whole group who listened intently for any spirit contact.

Jo and Steve were gob smacked to have picked up in one of their vigils the discarnate voice of a gentleman spirit on Jo’s electronic voice recorder, as hardened ghost hunters and paranormal investigators this had them both delighted to have picked up a fantastic gem of hard evidence, of a possible ghostly voice from the beyond the grave of a supernatural resident of the museum.

Mel and Simon both mentioned that when whistling and asking the ghostly occupants to copy the whistle, the spirits duly obliged and a whistling noise was heard to be mimicked to the group, although the whistle was almost identical except for a lower timbre than the one Mel had done. It seems that whistling was just not confined to one vigil or group, Rosey also mentioned in the replica street that the whole group listened in awe as they too heard whistling been repeated back to them from a section of the area where nobody was stood.

In some of the vigils K2 spikes were also prevalent when called out for on request, and also Karen, Tracey, and Julie considered the sight of a table tipping for the first time absolutely amazing and something they will not forget in a hurry they said.

In another vigil a group of ghost hunters experienced some fantastic ouija board results to the fascination of Phil, Andy and Sarah, however this was not the only vigil to experience results with ouija Mel and Simon described in a vigil how a group of ghost hunters had made contact with a spectral being at the museum. Lean, Sam and Jan all stated that the night had been a real eye opener with regards to paranormal activity that they had been privy to at this most haunted of locations.

On the whole it was a definitely a really active night for all concerned and as our brave ghost hunters made their way home, we all felt that the night was abound with so much activity that we could not possibly have anticipated so much and also as frequently. Although the majority of the activity is logged it has been really difficult to give justice to so much information we gathered, a casing point is the volume of whistling that was heard repeated back from the spirits of Thackray museum, the ghost hunters who felt the ghostly unseen hands touch them. Every team leader mentioned fantastic examples of glass divination on the ouija board and table tipping. The amount of light phenomena recorded too by each group was also staggering, it was just one of those nights that we will talk about for years to come and we cannot wait for Thackray Medical Museum Part Two.

As Mark said at the end of the night it was as though the ghostly residents had been bottled up for decades and were released from their catacomb and were only too glad to communicate and participate in spirit contact as much as they could

Ghost Hunting At The Lawns, Formerly Lincoln Lunatic Asylum, With Simply Ghost Nights, 4th September 2011.

Our ghost night at The Lawns was our inaugural event at this historic and grand building, we were greeted by a very helpful Daryl who made sure our brave ghost hunters did not go thirsty with an endless supply of tea and coffee to compliment the sumptuous buffet supplied by ourselves. Daryl was indeed a massive help in once again ensuring a full house of ghost hunters had a professionally ran paranormal investigation.

After a tour of the extensive building with it’s multitude of rooms, and hidden staircases to get ourselves acclimatised to the layout of The Lawns, it was time to commence our search for ghostly contact. In a vigil hosted by Rosey, Clair, John, Maggie, and Julie stood in awe as a table moved literally as though it was on wheels in a table tipping experiment. Rosey then described how the table danced along the wooden floor with each participants fingers slightly on the table, at one point Jo our intrepid investigator moved further away from the table and asked the table to follow, the table duly obliged in following Jo, then Rosey asked the group to take their fingers off the table and they then called out for the spirits in the room to move the table, suddenly to the delight also of Stephen and Karen the table proceeded to move with nobody’s hands near the table.

This phenomenon of a table moving by itself is something we have witnessed previously at other venues and it certainly gives some food for thought to any hardened sceptic who sees a table moving unassisted, possibly except from the spirit world. In fact Clair stated later that this one incident had changed her views completely on life after death.

In one of the upstairs rooms Stuart felt the spirit of a female called Francesca in the room, a séance was then started and the spirit of Francesca did indeed make contact with Emma, Sally, Megan, and the group of brave ghost hunters asked many questions to Francesca, who through glass divination informed the group that she had being a resident of the lawns due to the fact that she had given birth to an illegitimate girl called Elizabeth, this revelation had a sobering effect on the group and brought Cheryl, Sian and Lisa near to tears.

In a vigil hosted by Mark and Philip a group of ghost hunters were attempting ghostly contact via the ouija board when the spirit of a little girl came through, who entertained the group by claiming to have passed at the age of seven and sadly didn’t know the year she had passed, Sarah, Rosie, Jane and Michelle all chuckled when the spirit girl informed the group that she was frightened of Mark, the Simply Ghost Nights paranormal investigator, as an experienced investigator of many years Mark himself found this episode amusing.

Steve was conducting a vigil in the eerie Carholme Bar when the male spirit of a former patient of the Lawns proceeded to make contact with a fearless group of spirit seekers, the ghostly resident informed the group that he had lived their for many years until his death in the 19th century, the glass moved almost nonsensically most of the time in this vigil, it was as though the spirit was confused or just having a laugh at our questioning.

Some of the groups experienced some amazing spikes on the K2 which Mel and Simon claimed that even stunned them to the frequency of the spikes. There was some fantastic tapping on the table noted too, in one vigil the table knocked so loudly on request that it had Sadie, Rob and Laura opened mouthed at the knocking they heard.

Mel mentioned that some ghost hunters claimed that some of their electrical equipment started to go haywire, this was also mentioned by Clair and Stuart who also had their cameras what can only be described as interfered with by the spectral beings of The Lawns.

As the nights event came to a close we again spoke at length to the sheer volume of activity noted, again we can only assume that if you can provide an energetic approach to making spirit activity and with love and light, treating the spirit world with respect then they will more than likely to duly oblige in basically entertaining you with spirit activity, simply speaking you only usually get what you put into a paranormal investigation.

The Return To Gainsborough Old Nick, With Simply Ghost Nights 24th September 2011

Prior to our return to Gainsborough Old Nick Theatre the Simply Ghost Nights team wondered if this lovely old building would provide as much paranormal activity as we had witnessed in our previous visits to this most haunted of buildings. In fact the paranormal activity we witnessed surpassed anything we could have dreamed of, from a chair actually being thrown when no one was near it, to some awesome table tipping and a chair spinning on one leg, so sit down and be prepared to read a proper ghost story on a Simply Ghost Night.

Once again we must firstly offer our gratitude to John the curator of the Old Nick for his assistance in helping the event run so smoothly yet again. Whenever we visit this superb venue John always makes sure all the chairs are out and no request is too small for him to help us with.

One of the most incredible occurrences that happened at The Old Nick was when a group of ghost hunters were calling in a circle around a table out in the theatre, when all of a sudden in the corner of the room a really loud noise was heard, immediately Simply Ghost Nights experienced paranormal investigator Mark shone his torch in the area of the noise and to his and Rosey’s, Martin, Hannah, Sue’s and Mandy’s astonishment they all clearly saw a chair moving as if it had been thrown. No one was in the vicinity of the chair, this beggared the question who, or what had thrown the chair.

In another vigil in the theatre a different group of ghost hunters experienced activity in this remarkable building, Jo one of Simply Ghost Nights professional and caring team leaders was conducting an Ouija board experiment when the group begun communicating with a spirit with the initials H.W and he also stated that he was forty years old when he passed over and he had being a police officer there. The group also felt cold breezes under the table. Pauline and Hollie had their legs touched under the table. A black shadow was seen by all of the group to the amazement of Lee, Pauline, Susan, Clair, and Mark. Mark was stood in the corner when a mans face appeared directly in front of him as if intimidating him, the face of this spectral being was also seen by Jo herself, Clair, Sue, Lee and Pauline, and many more ghost hunters all confirmed seeing this face and all described the same crooked nose, who was this ghostly inhabitant of the old Nick who was seen by so many ghost hunters.

In a vigil in the men’s cells a group were communicating with Freddie on the Ouija, Freddie turned out to be a practical joker and didn't want to tell us much about himself. However he liked certain peoples voices all the women’s voices he would respond too, Freddie was certainly a ladies man and had all the women enthralled when they conducted a table tipping experiment, the table at one point was on one leg, and when ever Martin attempted to touch the table the table would move away from him much to the amusement of the remainder of the group.

All team leaders mentioned that in most of their vigils they had witnessed some excellent glass divination and table tipping, and again it must mentioned the number of ghost hunters who saw the eerie ghostly face with the crooked nose. Mel mentioned that in one of her vigils the sound of exhaling breathe was heard, this too was validated by other ghost hunters who had also heard the this strange noise.

The table tipping in the theatre was as described some of our best to date. At one time Sue, Hannah, Rosey and Becky had just one fingertip on each corner of the table and it duly obliged to dance around the theatre up on one leg with and what was amazing it had such small participation required from the group. We feel Freddie and his ghostly chums were very happy to communicate for us and as always we are now counting down the days until we return to one of our favourite location The Old Nick Theatre on Feb 4th 2012.

Ghost Hunting At R.A.F Holmpton With Simply Ghost Nights, 8th October 2011.

Well firstly we must thank James of R.A.F Holmpton for been an excellent host and truly helping the event run so smoothly and we thank him so much for that.

The team were so excited to be returning to literally this hidden gem of a haunted location, on our previous visit we had experienced all manner of paranormal phenomena and the highlight of the night was the sound of a brass bell audibly ringing with no one near the bell itself. How far would the spirits take us in our quest for spirit activity would we reach the dizzy heights of the stratosphere or would we remain grounded on the runway to a damp squib of a night of ghostly activity.

All groups experienced some fantastic table tipping especially in the medical room which had ‘big sceptic’ Dan absolutely bemused when the table was literally spinning around in a circle this sight also had Pam quizzically asking whether or not the table was in fact on wheels, she then looked underneath the table to see if their were wheels on the legs and in sheer disbelief she exclaimed “there’s no wheels, there proper legs”.

In one vigil, Jo Simply Ghost Nights experienced paranormal investigator was in a vigil in the map room, Jo’s group were using glass divination when the spirit communicated rather than give a name, the glass moved firstly over the letters and then proceeded over the numbers, Jo asked if this was the ghostly resident of R.A.F Holmpton’s forces identity number. The glass moved to yes, later on in the event Jo showed her findings to James, Holmpton’s knowledgeable host who informed us that the identity number was in fact a genuine identity number due to the letters that had been communicated, James also said that the letters and numbers disclosed by the spirit in the map room were indeed very rarely known about to anyone outside of the services.

Steve Simply Ghost Nights experienced paranormal investigator reported some excellent glass work in a vigil in the lower part of this huge subterranean building. And in the same vigil Steve also explained how the table rocked to and fro in attempting spirit communication with a former worker at Holmpton, this had Graham and Tony enthralled.

In the medical bay Stuart attempted a human pendulum experiment and to the absolute shock and bewilderment of Anthony, (who claimed to a big sceptic), he began to move backwards and forwards in response to the questions our brave ghost hunters asked. In this vigil we gathered from the spirit world through the human pendulum of Anthony that we were interacting with a female spirit who had worked there before passing over to the other side. At the end of the event Anthony did state that he had now experienced something to give him another thing to think about regarding life after death, as he reiterated his own experience in the human pendulum experiment and confirmed that he actually felt as though he was been pushed backwards and forwards by the ghostly unseen hands at R.A.F. Holmpton.

As we were once again beaten by the clock and the amiable James informed our bemused ghost hunters regarding the authenticity of the secret identity number, that the a ghostly tenant of Holmpton had divulged to Jo and her group, it’s times like these when a factual piece of evidence is passed on to us through communication from the spirit world, you can then realise the captivating paranormal world in which we are so blessed to see and behold on a regular basis, the spirit world only want to contact and converse with us as we have found on the majority of our Simply Ghost Night events.

Wednesday, 21 December 2011

Yet again our hosts on a ghost event could not have been more welcoming so a big thank you to Paul, Doug, Kim, Clair, Sheila, and Craig for all your help and assistance.

The event at Lincoln gaol had the Simply Ghost Nights team absolutely stunned at the amount and variety of ghostly activity, for example tables standing on one leg with no one touching the table, light phenomena, banging, tapping, incarnate voices and even more recorded activity was mentioned by the team.

In the men’s wing experienced paranormal investigators Rosey and Jo were holding a table tipping experiment, the table tipped onto two legs and then onto one leg, Rosey and Jo stated that next, they asked the remaining ghost hunter at the table to remove their hands from the table, one of the most shocking things both had ever witnessed happened, the table then stood motionless for about five or sic seconds with no one holding the table and the table still on one leg. As a group we have witnessed some extraordinary things but for Rosey, Jo and the group of ghost hunters they had never witnessed the like as what they saw in the men’s wing.

In the women’s wing with experienced paranormal investigator Steve, a group of ghost hunters started spectral communication with a 26 year old spirit called Sara, through glass divination Sarah described that she had died in the prison infirmary during childbirth. She had been in prison a year at the time which made the group suspicious of how she had become pregnant. She claimed to be very sad and was looking for her "baba" as she put it.

The story may have had some truth as one of the volunteers of Lincoln gaol Doug, confirmed that there are records of women called Sarah dying during childbirth at that period. We were also informed by Sarah that the Matron wasn’t a pleasant person to come across, and that she and the Governor were together, this was confirmed by the Doug also, the group probed further and found out that the child was an illegitimate child of the governor himself who had been married to the matron and, according to Sarah. The group were very sad about Sarah and she responded by saying that the group were very kind and considerate to her.

After this the group asked for another spirit to come on the table and a male spirit did who asked us to guess his name, Doug guessed the name John and it proved to be accurate as the governor himself. Doug then asked questions which no one around the table would have known the answers to the following.

What did John enjoy looking at? To which the spirit spelt out “stars”. Doug confirmed that John was an avid astronomer.

Doug asked another question what building did he have built? The answer being the observatory which John confirmed via the ouija board.

John was very damning about his activities describing Sarah as "dirty" and showed no remorse at all, indeed through glass divination he swore at the group when our poor opinions of him came out. When the table tipping started he made his anger very apparent with very violent movements of the table.

In the female wing a group of ghost hunters also experienced some fantastic table tipping and when the laser pen was placed so that a ‘curtain of light’ was placed at one end of the wing as to detect any spirit movement or dark shadows, the spirit world duly obliged on request to interfere with the laser pen. This amazed John, Sean, Karen and Gary when the green light actually went darker and lit back up on request to everyone’s consternation.

Steve also mentioned in a vigil that a group of ghost hunters were watching dark shadow movements when he took the temperature with the temperature a gun and was astounded to find a 7 degree drop in the room temperature that he had recorded only minutes earlier.

The use of the ouija board produced enthralling results as stated earlier also a spirit called George Baines made contact from the other side and claimed to have died in the gaol in 1845. And many groups heard water dripping in a few vigil areas but could find no trace of any water or a leak on a rainless night, apparently this phenomena is not new to the gaol staff who informed us that it had been reported previously unknown to the Simply Ghost Nights team.

In the chapel a group were calling out for spirit rapping’s or other forms of contact when to their utter surprise they heard an incarnate voice from beyond the grave that had Sean, Maxine, Lucy and Sheila totally bemused as what had made the noise from the empty balcony above them. However this was not the only case of an ethereal guttural noise has Rosey said that in a vigil in the men’s wing they too heard a similar noise, also we must also make reference to the group vigil in the main meeting room where all the ghost hunters observed a plethora of K2 activity on calling out, and many of the group also heard the same groaning noises from the adjoining room of the main room.

In the female wing a group were calling out for any spectral contact when they clearly heard the sound of metal on metal on request and a heavy door open by itself to the shock of Andrew, Gary, Sarah, and Bev. The banging they all heard literally scared Joanne witless but Stuart calmed her down, as the group called for more banging and tapping the spirits again obliged, the group listened on as the banging and tapping increased on request, no such noises were made until the group asked the spirit world to commence tapping and banging, also the new batteries in the laser pen had to be replaced twice, had the spirits of Lincoln gaol drained the batteries?

Yet again the sound of water dripping was heard clear as a bell in the room, as the group looked for water on the floor the night had almost finished, but what a night it had been, table tipping, doors opening, glass divination, incarnate voices, the list of activity goes on, all who attended the ghost event that night would surely not forgot what that saw, heard, or felt at Lincoln Gaol.

Our time at Lincoln Gaol came to an end and we thanked all our brave guests, the Lincoln gaol staff, and the spirit world for making it such a memorable event on a Simply Ghost Night.

Ghost Hunting At Nottingham Galleries Of Justice With Simply Ghost Nights 22nd July 2011

The paranormal investigation at the Galleries of justice ran so smoothly and professionally in and in no small part to Ian our host for the night at this spooky venue. The Simply Ghost nights and the ghost hunters who attended the event were treated to some amazing spirit activity and one particular incident will remain with all those that witnessed it forever.

After a tour of the building and a sumptuous buffet the Simply Ghost Nights team and the brave ghost hunters attempted spirit communication in the court room of the galleries, on calling out for banging and tapping Rosey placed a K2 meter on the desk in front of her. Rosey proceeded to call out for the ghostly residents of the galleries to go to the green light on the k2, however many within the group suddenly noticed that a green light along the balcony of the court house began to dim on Rosey’s request to go to the green light. Every time the group then asked for spirit to go to the green light, the green light on the balcony would dim yet again on request. Not once did the K2 meter spike but the green light on the balcony definitely dimmed on request as though a spectral child was placing their hand in front of the light.

This incident delighted the entire group as it was a group vigil to begin the night’s paranormal investigation, each of and everyone of the group who saw it all admitted they would never forget the instance as long as they live.

After this we then all went our separate ways and split up into smaller groups of ghost hunters to see what the ghostly inhabitants of the galleries would participate in spirit communication. All the groups mentioned that they had experienced some excellent table tipping, and in a séance the spirit of a debtor had made his presence known, by informing the group that he was called Sam and that he had lived in Nottingham, but had ended up in the gaol for the debts that he could not pay back.

In the cells a group of ghost hunters were attempting spirit communication when Philip one of fantastic

our paranormal investigators asked the spirits to copy him whistling, and to the amazement the spectral beings obliged in whistling back to the sound of Philip whistling, this occurrence happened on numerous occasions when Philip whistled and asked them to whistle back to him. This amazed the entire vigil group that heard the whistling of the ghostly resident of Nottingham Galleries of Justice.

As a paranormal event per se the activity we encountered was frequent and exciting, but nothing could come close in excitement and sheer exhilaration as when the spirit child kept interfering with the green light in the court room. We have discussed this incident at length and attempted to come to a more natural conclusion, such as the possibility of a moth for example was in front of the green light, maybe an insect too, however the more we thought about a reason for the activity we witnessed the more we could only conclude that a spectral being was the culprit for the inference of the green light in the court room of the Galleries of Justice.

When Simply Ghost Nights Went Ghost Hunting At Gainsborough Old Hall, 25th June 2011

It had been some years since the team had last visited this historic Tudor building and what a return awaited us and our intrepid group of brave ghost hunters. From the initial walk round the eerie atmosphere grew. As we rambled around the corridors and splendid rooms on our brief tour of the vigil areas, there was an air of trepidation of how the spirit world would possibly communicate with us.

As the groups went their separate ways to the vigil areas who could have guessed how the nights investigation would unfold. There was so many significant incidents it is really hard to know where to start, but we must firstly mention that Rosey our fearless and brave paranormal investigator claimed that this was the scariest place she had been to.

Rosey story starts in Catherine Howard’s bedroom, at first Corin mentioned that he felt somebody touching his neck and it was scaring him, Rosey asked for the unseen hands of the spirit realm to leave Corin alone as he was beginning to freak out. The next moment the whole group heard the noise of a metal bowl been hit, Jo 2 suddenly squealed that she felt something touch her face and then Rosey’s chair began to move and jerk inexplicably, she then knocked three times on her chair and the group all heard the sound of the chair been kicked.

The group asked for a tapping noise and almost immediately they heard the sound of constant tapping for around five seconds, from across the room. As the vigil continued the paranormal activity continued with members of the group experiencing cool breezes on them, and a light groan was heard as well, as the tapping continued on request it all got too much for Corin as he became more agitated, it was then that Rosey radioed for Mark our bravest of paranormal investigators to come to the vigil area and stand with Corin to reassure him.

Numerous groups recorded torches been turned on by the spirit world, and the movement of dark shadows were also spotted by our keen eyed ghost hunters. In one glass divination experiment the spirit of a lady called Jane Guy communicated to inform the group that she had worked at the hall when it was a linen factory, and that she had passed away with dysentery with many co-workers at the linen factory in 1929, and Jane also mentioned her grandads name a Mr. Fawbes, to the amazement of Michelle, Pat, and Lauren. Also a cat ball with a bell in it was thrown by the group and it rolled back from the empty darkness by the invisible hands of the spirit realm, this too stunned Sarah and Shelley.

In the panelled room the spirit of William came through in a glass divination experiment, William had a deep rooted dislike to women and he demonstrated this when asked who on the table he did not like, the table literally went in a circle in turn to all the women seated at it, when asked who he liked at the table it instantly tipped towards Stuart, with the groups help and assistance Stuart arranged a date with William.

In the tower room a group of ghost hunters made ghostly contact through glass divination with the spirit of Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry the VIII who was imprisoned in the tower room before her untimely death by beheading. She confessed her love for Thomas Culpeper who she is said to have had an affair with which led to ultimately to her execution. As the vigil continued the group attempted a table tipping experiment to the shock and excitement of first time ghost hunters Lisa and Kerry. In the ballroom a group of ghost hunters were table tipping when the table moved on request in turn to the astonishment of Mel, Patrick, Stephen and Karen.

As the nights investigation drew to a close and we all met up for our debrief about the ghostly events that everyone had seen and felt, the consensus by all the ghost hunters was that it had been an eventful and active night and as we said our goodbyes and thanked our ghost hunters for joining us and participating with an open mind and positive energy. Mark summed up the evening simply by saying that underneath the Tudor veneer of a majestic building lies a different realm to our own.

Ghost Hunting At Drakelow Tunnels, Kidderminster, With Simply Ghost Nights 26th November 2011

Firstly we must thank Susannah, Steve and their lovely team in helping us on this extraordinary venue for a ghost hunt.

This was Simply Ghost Nights first but certainly not last visit to these fantastic tunnels, originally the tunnels were constructed to house the machinery to build parts for the war effort in the Second World War, and then they were used by the M.O.D in the cold war era. With this knowledge we could not wait to explore the labyrinth of approximately 5 miles of tunnels and ante rooms in the pitch dark as there was no electricity, with our torches at the ready and new batteries ready in earnest it was time for the Simply Ghost Nights team and our fellow ghost hunters to enter the ghostly realm at Drakelow tunnels.

The amount of varying activity witnessed by our brave ghost hunters provided a wide spectrum of results that were carefully noted down by the Simply Ghost Nights team, In a vigil with Stuart and Dee a group of ghost hunters experienced some fantastic table tipping where the table went up on one leg and then spun in a circle to the utter shock of, Carla, Vicky, Faye, Hayley and Nicola. Also in this vigil the group were all holding hands just above the table asking for the spirits of the Drakelow Tunnels to move the table when the table slid along the concrete floor with no one touching it, this incident would be repeated by other groups too.

In a vigil off tunnel 2 Paul, Laura, Robert, and Alison also experienced an exhibition of table tipping form the spirit world and also made contact with the ghostly residents of Drakelow tunnels on the ouija board, they entered in communication with the spirits of Bob, Brian, and Evvie. All three spirits claimed to have worked in the tunnels in the 1940s which fascinated the group. Also in another vigil area in the bowels of the tunnels Stuart, Becky, Sophie and Tony were holding hands around a K2 meter, as the group were calling out for spirit communication when inexplicably a sudden white bright light manifested itself in the room from nowhere to the shock of the four brave ghost hunters. There was no other light source around and all their torches were off, these light phenomena certainly had everyone puzzled.

As mentioned previously regarding tables moving by themselves Rosey, Jo and Steve stated that in a vigil, a group of ghost hunters witnessed a table literally leap in front of their eyes with no one near the table to the shock of the whole group.

In another vigil in the lost world of the tunnels a fearless group of ghost hunters made contact with a spectral tenant of the tunnels who went by the initials of C.B. C.B delighted the group when he answered their questions regarding his working life at the tunnels via the ouija board.

In a vigil in the kitchen area with our experienced team leader Mark and Philip, the atmosphere of the tunnels got too much for one of our ghost hunters who suddenly fainted, but after a five minute break she carried on regardless again with the paranormal investigation.

We also had reports of ghostly faces appearing in front of our ghost hunters and then vanishing to their horror and also some groups recorded incidents of items being thrown and heard in vacant rooms nearby.

All in all it was an amazing night for all of us who participated in a ghost hunt at Drakelow tunnels, and the Simply Ghost Nights team thanked all our brave ghost hunters who joined us and the spirits for their efforts in communicating with us.

Ghost Hunting at Warmsworth Hall, Doncaster, with Simply Ghost Nights 2nd December 2011

Join Simply Ghost Nights as we will be hosting a paranormal investigation at this very popular venue of Warmsworth Hall in Doncaster, which has become a firm favourite with ghost hunters in the UK. It is said some of the staff at the nearby hotel are so afraid to step into the building at night; they simply hand over the keys at the end of their shift, and quickly return to the comfort and safety of the nearby hotel.

On our last visit we were amazed when using one of the Frank boxes (ghost box) while calling out, while at the same time pointing the thermal laser gun at the motion sensor in trying to tempt spirit activity, but what happened next put shivers down the whole group. On calling out "can you see the red light", which was from the thermal laser gun, a disembodied voice came through from the Franks box and said, "Yes it's pretty". The entire group that heard that voice, will never forget what they heard that night.

There was an incident prior to the event beginning that must be mentioned, whilst Rosey was preparing the buffet alone in the room adjoining the main hall, she was suddenly stunned and frightened when the door leading to the kitchen literally slammed shut with such ferocity that Ian and Stuart who were setting up the live streaming equipment at the other end of the building, thought a door near them had in fact been kicked, when they checked to see if anyone had indeed kicked the door they found no one insight. After about ten minutes Rosey walked over to where Ian and Stuart were, with fear in her eyes, and a trembling voice she said that the door that had slammed shut, had actually been closed, on inspection we all noted that this incident could not been caused by the wind, we attempted to replicate the occurrence but try as we might we could not as the door was quite heavy and solid. Could the door have been opened and then slammed forcefully by the invisible hands of some poltergeist.

Initially there was mixed reports from the team leaders regarding spirit communication with some experiencing various levels of activity, some vigils were described as flat, other groups reported the ghostly goings on were on an epic scale such as glass divination, table tipping and some K2 spikes, as we always state it’s not upto us if the spectral side want to entertain or not.

However as the energies heightened during the event so did the paranormal activity on a much larger scale. Michelle a regular paranormal investigator was shocked to feel the bracelet on her ankle ,slip to the floor the floor Michelle said that the bracelet had not been off her ankle in three years, did the unseen hands of a playing spirit child unclip her beloved bracelet. In Steven’s group they were entertained by the spirit child by the name of Holly, when holding a séance, this experience touched the majority of the group such as Jane, Emily, Sally, and Chris. Jane later reflected on the encounter and stated on how it had affected her emotionally, as she had never encountered anything like this before as it was her first ghost hunt, but definitely not her last.

With so much activity how could we miss the opportunity to hold another paranormal investigation at this beautiful location on the 2nd December 2011the Simply Ghost Nights team at Warmsworth, Doncaster, and Yorkshire if you dare.

Ghost Hunting At Drakelow Tunnels, Kidderminster, With Simply Ghost Nights - 26th November 2011.

Drakelow Tunnels where men are said to have been crushed to death during construction, This eerie event will include a workshop to teach those who dare how to increase the sensitivity and skills required to carry out a successful ghost hunt. There will be a mediumship walk-around and ghost-hunting vigils, with refreshments throughout the night.
It is said that by the mid 1930’s the possibility of another world war was becoming evident, forcing the British Government to embark on a major construction plan of building several shadow factories. By 1941 construction at Drakelow was underway. The plan was for a massive four and a half miles of interconnecting tunnels, the work was hazardous and there are stories of several fatal accidents.

One eye witness claims three men were crushed in a roof fall in tunnel one. Other fatal accidents occurred when one of the workers was struck by a dumper truck and on another occasion two men were killed when riding the conveyors. Local rumour suggests that the initials of those who died in the construction process were carved into the sandstone where they died. “Members of Drakelow Preservation Trust have experienced some disturbing incidents from being grabbed in the dark to manifestations actually being caught on camera.”

Following the development of nuclear weapons at the end of World War II, the British Government formed elaborate plans for Drakelow Tunnels to be used as one of Britain’s nuclear bunkers in the event of nuclear attack. Not only is Drakelow a known haunted location but it also offers a fascinating overnight experience in one of the UK’s largest nuclear bunkers.

Unfortunately these tunnels have no electricity and are only lit with candles it is also cold and very dark so please bring a torch and warm clothing with sensible shoes. This location is not for the faint hearted.

These tunnels have been described by many mediums to be the most scary place in the U.K. Dare you join us and see if this claim is true?

Ghost Hunting Event On Bonfire Night At High Melton Hall, Doncaster With Simply Ghost Nights 5th November 2011.

When Simply Ghost Nights first booked this former hall our main concern was would it fizzle out like a damp squib similar to a cheap Catherine wheel or would it explode and cascade with activity very much like a really expensive firework. To be fair our concerns were very much unfounded, all groups reported all manner of activity in the majority of vigil areas.

Firstly Simply Ghost Nights team would like to offer a big thank you to Paul the security guard at High Melton for his help in making the event run so smoothly by his help in regard to the provision of our hot water for the teas and coffees.

After a brief walk around of this vast building and the numerous vigil areas we could go into, it was time to commence the paranormal investigation at High Melton Hall. We began with a group vigil in what we called the board room with splendid marble fireplace and beautiful ornate chandeliers. In this vigil we experienced some wonderful K2 spiking on request and many ghost hunters could see dark shadows movement at the far end of the room. Stuart, Simply Ghost Nights medium picked up on the name Mr. Samuels whom Stuart claimed had worked there as a butler, Stuart also mentioned that he could sense the spirit of little boy, aged approximately ten who was a chimney sweep watching the group intently, and Philip a sensitive mentioned that he wanted to say the name Andrew for some inexplicable reason.

With this in mind the large group vigil separated and we went our separate ways to investigate the ghostly world of High Melton hall. In the board room whilst taking part in a ouija board experiment Mr. Samuels communicated with the group the same Mr. Samuels who Stuart had mentioned earlier, Mr. Samuels described his life at the hall before he had passed over, Stuart spoke of a child chimney sweep stood in the room the child was invited to the table to communicate, however communicate the child did through tapping on the table to the groups questions. This display of extreme tapping on request had first time ghost hunter and major sceptic Stephen absolutely in awe at what he was seeing and listening. Stephen would later admit to have his strong beliefs questioned on the paranormal world and stated that we would be seeing him again on another ghost hunt.

In another vigil in a downstairs room Rosey claimed that the spirit of William communicated with them and spoke with such a foul and degrading mouth, Rosey stated that the rude words made everyone on the table cringe, when he was not using such base language William did inform the group of his life at the hall in the 19th century.

In a vigil with Mark and Philip using the ouija board a Mr. Mez made ghostly contact and claimed to be from Germany and had worked as a labourer at the hall, he also claimed to have died in 1850 and was seventy two at the time of his death. It was in this vigil that the table began to rock to and fro to the excitement of Jeremy, Sara, Sarah and especially Stephen who had earlier claimed to be a major sceptic.

Another exciting incident occurred was when Philip spotted a huge orb move in the main hall from the vicinity of Stuart and fly straight into the chimney of the fire, could this have been the spirit child returning to the chimney to watch the group yet again.

As the time beat us once again, we thanked all the ghost hunters for joining the Simply Ghost Nights team, and we also thanked the ghostly residents of High Melton Hall for entertaining us all so memorably.

Ghost Hunting At Hyde Town Hall, Manchester With The Simply Ghost Nights Team, 19th Nov 2011.

The haunted Hyde Town hall was built in 1885 by Mr. J W Beaumont and it certainly was built to impress! The building is huge with so many areas to explore each being completely different in its own unique way. Hyde Town Hall even boasts its own war memorial to the great war of 1914-1918.
Paranormal activity is a common feature at the town hall, there are many recorded sightings of oddly dressed people walking around the building, dressed in clothes from a time gone by, and reports of soldiers from the Great War spotted in the building too. We were so excited at the prospect of a ghost hunt at this renowned haunted location.

It didn’t take long after a cup of tea for the activity to commence, in the first vigil in the Registry room of the hall the group were calling out for spirit communication when the flowers that were in the room suddenly began to sway to and fro, we checked for any draughts around the vicinity of the vase holding the flowers, however we did not notice any breeze whatsoever, even when Rosey sat near the flowers there was no other breeze and the flowers never swayed again.

Also in the room Stuart noticed the silhouette of a first world war soldier stood by the fireplace, the group asked out for confirmation and the group heard tapping emanating from the direction of the fireplace. The group asked for further spirit communication and were astounded when the flowers began to sway yet again, Rosey immediately said that there was no breeze near her at all.

The strangest incident of the night was when the group were calling out for ghostly sign when the glass panelled door to the room suddenly opened and a man’s clearly appeared at the glass and then disappeared. We ran straight to the door to investigate and found no one there at all, we then asked the security guard who was watching television if he had left the room recently, he confirmed that he had not left his room all night. The group had all seen this mysterious face look at them, we then described how we all felt and the feeling was that it must have been one of the spectral populous of Hyde Town Hall.

At the end of the night we had gathered more than enough evidence to say that Hyde Town hall definitely needed further investigation at a later date, which is the 19th of November 2011.

High Melton is a quaint little village just outside Doncaster and it boasts one of the most impressive buildings in the Doncaster area. The central tower of High Melton Hall dates from the medieval period yet the main section was built around 1757, with a wing being added in 1878.
The centre of the building is three storeys high; the wings are two storeys high. The Hall and estate was formerly occupied by the Fountayne, Montagu and Lindley Wood families. During the 18th century John Fountayne was the Dean of York.

During the 20th century, the Hall was the scene of a theft, in 1908, 18-year-old Percy Finn, a second footman at the Hall, stole a tiara, the property of Mrs Montagu, wife of F.J.O Montagu and then tried to obtain £500 from her for its safe return. Unfortunately for Finn, he left a trail of clues, which eventually resulted in the police arresting him.

In 1926, Melton and Barnburgh Halls were purchased from Captain F.J.O Montagu through a private treaty by Messrs G.W Meanley & Sons, Mexborough builders and contractors.

In the late 1940s more than £200,000 was spent on High Melton Hall and it was converted into a teacher training college, which it still is today. The Doncaster Chronicle of July 1, 1954 stated that ‘High Melton Hall, the country home, the prison, the barracks, the church, is now a building for people who want to learn.

It also talks of the Hall ghosts: “one of the most common sightings is reputed to appear in one of the rooms in the old tower where the walls are so thick that wardrobes and bookshelves have been built into them.”

Other unexplained phenomenon includes.

Strange smells out of nowhere, cold spots, doors slamming in empty rooms, and incarnate voices heard from empty rooms and much more.

Join us for a Bonfire Night Spooktacular!!

Ghost Hunting At Chesleigh House, Gainsborough With Simply Ghost Nights

Dare you read what happened on a Simply Ghost Night at Chesleigh House, Gainsborough's former maternity hospital.

Chesleigh House dates way back in fact it was once owned by Sir Hickman Bacon who at one time was one of the richest men in Britain, and who also owned Gainsborough Old Hall. By the turn of the 20th century Chesleigh House had become a Victorian school for boys and then went on to become Gainsborough’s maternity hospital which would have seen many a birth of a baby and sadly too the death of both babies and their unfortunate mothers. In the 1970s it became a dance school for twenty years and now its used as a boys learning centre. With it’s chequered history, and reported ghostly activity what spectral beings would await the Simply Ghost Nights team and fellow ghost hunters as we attempted spirit contact at this reputedly haunted building.

Before the event had commenced Sean heard the sound of chains clanging together in the empty gymnasium upstairs in Chesleigh House, whilst having a quick walk around the house. Rosey, Mel, and Steve reported in separate vigils the same spirit lady making contact through glass divination, and in one of those vigils Jo (number 1) became so frightened and reduced to tears by the glass movement that she had to be taken from the room for a while.

Jo (number 2) had to leave one vigil to be physically sick as she felt nauseas and had stomach pains, could this have been the spirit of a former pregnant mother that Jo could have sensed. On returning to the room Jo stated that she felt much better and could not understand what had happened. In another vigil the group made contact with a spirit called Stanley who, had worked there many years ago, and in a separate vigil Steve spoke of a spirit who made ghostly contact through glass divination, but would only communicate when Dan asked the questions. In the same vigil Kirsty screamed after the chair she was sat in was shaken by unseen hands, and it took some time for Kirsty to calm down.

Liz, Angela, Rob, Becky and Kerry were excited during a table tipping experiment when the table moved to them on request, and also when they experienced some loud and strong tapping’s on the table also Tom, Jo(number 3) Leigh, and Michelle were also astounded at the ferocity of the table moving in a vigil in what would have been the maternity ward. K2 spikes were reported on numerous vigils and on request too when attempting to communicate with the spirit world.
All in all it was quite an eventful night at Chesleigh House and one the Simply Ghost Nights team cannot wait to return to in the near future.

Ghost Hunting At R.A.F Holmpton, Hull, With Simply Ghost Nights - 8th October 2011

Located some 80ft below the non-descript guard house at RAF Holmpton, is the underground Command Bunker; This event is not for the faint hearted. Two massive floors covering almost 35,000sq ft are there waiting for us to explore and investigate on our ghost night at this event. For years this place has remained a secret even in the local area, where most people simply did not know of the existence or purpose of such a substantial facility. Just one or two of them may have worked here but even today they 'cannot' tell their story.
RAF Holmpton was once known as RAF Patrington serving the forces since World War2. It was during the 1940's that plans came to light for a new radar system to be installed at various sites, RAF Patrington being one of them.
Just some of the activity reported in this most haunted location are ......
An apparition crossing the hallway disappearing down a locked stairwell.
On the top floors many guests have reported the sense of something very sinister and the atmosphere is so bad many had to flee from the area after a short period of time.
Poltergeist activity is a common report with items of furniture being moved, stones and pebbles being thrown, and very loud unexplained noises are heard on investigation.
Another common apparition is that of a young man in the canteen area, he has been confronted on many occasion it is said that he actually replies saying "he should not be there" ! Who could this poor lost soul be?
Footsteps, dark shadows, children’s cries, are also reported in the same area.
In the hospital area a woman has been seen in nurses attire known as Margaret, She is considered a gentle soul who is described as very welcoming. The Commanding Officers and bedroom are another active part of the building with flashing lights and moving orbs often captured on camera and witnessed by the naked eye. Disembodied voices appearing to be in deep conversation as though they are unaware of an investigation being held in the same room.
Dare you join us for a Simply Ghost Night.

Ghost Hunting At Tettenhall Towers, With Simply Ghost Nights, 12th November 20011

Tettenhall Towers in Wolverhampton is a brand new location for simply ghost nights. Tettenhall Towers dates back to the early part of the eighteenth century and was built by Thomas Pearson is 1771. In 1851 it was bought by Colonel Thomas Thorneycroft who was a very eccentric man and has been spotted many times at the Towers, unhappy that there are people in his home.
Its documented that scared builders have fled the property and not returned because of what they’ve seen or heard!!
The Thorneycroft’s, Colonel Thorneycroft bought and sold property on a grand scale but preferred Tettenhall Towers to the rest. Colonel Thorneycroft was also an eccentric of the highest order, he was known for pushing his butlers off the top of the towers to test various flying machines of his own creation.

G B Thorneycroft, the colonel’s father, was the company founder who also became Wolverhampton’s first mayor in 1848. But it was his son, the buyer of Tettenhall Towers, who became arguably one of the village’s most eccentrically famous residents.

The Colonel was variously described as a man whose fertile imagination, individual point of view, broad and ready wit and energetic language meant that he would not readily be forgotten.

Tettenhall Towers, now part of Tettenhall College, is situated in Mount Road Tettenhall. The Towers dates back to the early part of the eighteenth century when a General Thomas Pearson, a returning Indian nabab bought land in Tettenhall at the site of the Holly Bush Inn.

Ghost Hunting At Castle Keep, Newcastle With Most Haunted’s Chris Conway - 15th October

As seen on Most Haunted! Come and join Tvs’ Livings popular Medium Chris Conway at this amazing castle in the centre of Newcastle. With the amount of history that's taken place within castle keeps walls, you'd expect a fair few ghost stories here. although the Ghosts of Castle Keep are not well documented. This is one reason why our team are so excited to be hosting an investigation here as it should be very interesting to see what we pick up.
It is known that there have been many sightings and apparitions have been seen on many occasions by visitors. There has also been poltergeist activity here where things have been thrown around the room and small objects such as coins have been thrown at guests during the day.

Eerie voices and ghostly footsteps have been heard echoing through the corridors. Tapping and scratching on the walls has been heard frequently. The laughter of children has been heard in the corridors and the sobbing of a woman has been heard in an area which is thought to have been the drawing room. The clinking of armour has also been heard as has the movement of chains.

One of the ghost stories was reported quite recently from a man who was visiting. He was ascending a flight of stone stairs near the mezzanine chamber, when he physically bumped into someone on the stairs. Turning back to apologize, he realized no one was there... as you can imagine he left the building immediately!

The great hall has such an atmosphere, many people have claimed to have seen a teenage girl in pre-Victorian probably Edwardian - style of dress moving quickly around the room. Also, in the Galleries that overlook the Great Hall, eye-witnessed have seen a woman in her mid-twenties, with Elizabethan dress and even heard the rustling of her gown.

It's often reported that the Mezzanine Chamber is the most terrifying room in the building. People complain of oppressive nausea and ghostly whispers. The Mezzanine Chamber was in fact a holding cell for people to be taken away an executed, so it's hardly surprising that this phenomena is reported, given the amount of emotional torment that's taken place within the room.

Lets hope Newcastle Keep lives up to its newly found reputation as being very haunted, for visit on the 15th October 2011.

Simply Ghost Nights return to Gainsborough Old Nick Theatre, for a ghost hunting event. On the 24th of September 2011,

Join Simply Ghost Nights and be detained for a ghost hunting event at The Gainsborough Old Nick Theatre, this former Police station and now Theatre will be your home for the night as we investigate recent reports of paranormal activity.
Be part of the team and together we can all solve the mystery at The Gainsborough Old Nick Theatre, 'Of what went bump in the Night'.
On our last ghost hunting event here, one startled ghost hunter screamed in terror as she felt the unseen hands grab at her hair. Also strange phenomena has been reported for many years by its visitors, cold unseen hands have been felt on unsuspecting customers. In the group séance at the start of the ghost hunt, everyone heard unexplained banging and tapping from within the main theatre room in which we were holding our group séance.

We also witnessed light analomies in the theatre room as well, all this was too much for one of our ghost hunters Jo, who quickly fled the room in a terrified state , however after a few minutes Jo bravely returned to the group vigil once more. Some of the ghost hunters claimed that they could here the theatre seats moving up and down also.

After we had all split into our four vigil groups the spirits certainly came out to entertain us at this former police station, the ghostly inhabitants left many of us astonished at the level of spooky happenings.
Anne Marie one of the sceptics to join us claimed to have been kicked on the shin, in one of the vigil areas in the Old Nick, Anne Marie stated at the end of the night that she had changed her opinion on the possibility of life after death. Another sceptic Nick, was left stunned as the table tipped literally into his lap in the theatre room, in a session of table tipping.

Another group of ghost hunters swore they had heard heavy footsteps on the empty staircase, in the men
Objects have disappeared and manifested elsewhere for no apparent reason. Shadows have been seen darting around the building and a tense and heavy atmosphere felt and much much more....
See
s cells another group stared in disbelief as a light anomaly in the shape of a perfect circle, literally moved along the darkened cell wall from left to right, and simply vanished in front of their disbelieving www.simplyghostnights.co.uk for further details.

Ghost Hunting Tip.

On a vigil be very quiet when calling out for spirit communication as you just might hear some tapping from the spirit world. Spirits love to communicate with the living by many means and banging and tapping is a favourite of theirs, it just requires patience and quiet.

The World Economy

As a qualified Financial Adviser the problems arisng around the globe can be firmly planted on  the doorstep of the banks, their initial lack of constraint in lending to all and sundrie, and now their inability to lend whatsoever. After the failure of  initiatives Q.E 1&2to ignite the econmoy due to the banks poor lending record of late. The banks are happy to sit on vast amounts of  low interest cash, and charge everyone else a kingsa ransom in interest, this is all well and good as a child could make money at the moment.

However as the cogs of the economic world grind to halt the fact of the matter is we are now facing the genuine possibility Q.E 3, yet again more money will go a wash in the banks reserves producing excellent bank sheets for all concerned. Yet still the banks will not lend to businessess who so desperately need the capital to continue, no one will buy new cars, houses, washing machines, televisions, etc. We are a consumer society the sooner the banks realise this the better, or we might see an end to what we have now.

Ghost Hunting At the Golden Fleece, York England, with Simply Ghost Nights, 6th August 2011

Once again we must thank Stephanie from the Golden Fleece for all her help in making the event run so smoothly and professionally. It had been sometime since the Simply Ghost night’s team had visited The Golden Fleece, and on our last visit there we had been royally entertained by the spirit world, would the spirit world once again entertain us with their activity, in a nutshell yes. This was by far the most active occasion we had witnessed at The Golden fleece; such was the amount of phenomena we saw.
This only highlights the fact the more positive energy a group can create the more chance that the spirit world will interact, and entertain that group. This was emphasised when a brave group were attempting an ouija board experiment in a bedroom when they made ghostly contract with a spirit called Fred, this incident shocked Kimberley, Joy, and Susanna. Fred informed the group that he had passed over at the age of fifty in 1815, and that his wife had been called Helen and he also mentioned the ghostly presence of John and Kath that were also in the room.

In the same room the group were treated to the table tapping and banging to the whole groups amazement. In another vigil in this most haunted of buildings, a group of ghost hunters stood mouths wide opened after a packet of sweets were placed on the table, with a torch on the table too, and the group asked for the spirits to move the torch and they could in return have a ‘sweetie’. After a short time the torch did indeed begin to move and the group gave the obliging spirit an around of applause.

Whilst taking part in an ouija board experiment a different group of ghost hunters unbeknown to them made contact with Fred, the spirit who had made ghostly communication with the a group earlier on the event. This coincidence amazed Jill, Mark and David the fact that a spirit could make contact on the table to different groups without either group knowing which spirit had communicated with the previous group.

A group of paranormal investigators were so excited when the table moved to and fro in a table tipping experiment on request, and a group were staggered when listening to the Franks box when three people in the group all clearly heard their own names called out from the Franks box itself. Could this be random names heard from the Franks box, however when you specifically call out for your own name and ask the ghostly inhabitants of the Golden Fleece to repeat them back, and then you clearly hear your own name, then all that can be added is that the Franks box is truly a transmitter to another plane that is not our own.

As we spoke at the end of the night, we all agreed that the Golden Fleece did indeed warrant another investigation by the Simply Ghost nights team .

Tonight's Ghost Hunting Event At Leeds, Armley Mills, England, 13th August 2011

Tonight Simply Ghost Nights will be holding a paranormal investigation at Leeds Armley Mills, England, on our last visit there in search of spirit communication we were treated to some amazing spirit activity, such as aggressive table tipping and some fascinating light phenomena as well.

On a ghost hunt it is important that you go with an open mind and participate as much as you can, we have found that using positive energy for the spirits to use then all manner of paranormal activity is possible. On a ghost night you will be using all your five senses to detect spirit activity, as it can come in many forms, such as light phenomena, people being touched by unseen ghostly hands, strange incarnate voices can be heard too, and we have also encountered strange smells as well.

As well as using your senses on a Simply Ghost Night you can use the latest ghost hunting equipment such as K2 meters, infra red cameras, Franks box's also. So for a night with a difference then try a Simply Ghost Night.

So on a ghost hunting event go with an open mind, positive energy and anything can happen, and remember the living only hurt you, not the dead.

Ghost Hunting At The Thackray Medical Museum Leeds, With Simply Ghost Nights. - 27th August

In the late 1840s after an influx of Irish vagrants in the wake of the Great Famine, the old Lady Lane workhouse was unable to cope so the Poor Law Guardians of Leeds resolved to build a new workhouse with the latest facilities. The new workhouse comprised a main block, infirmary, chapel, and "idiotic" wards with a large new infirmary added to the site in 1872-4. The original infirmary, to the north of the chapel, had up to 140 beds, including some for the mentally ill.

In 1904, the building underwent a "reconstruction" and several new buildings were erected at the site, the updated Workhouse now accommodated 784 paupers who existed under a spartan regime of work in return for food and accommodation, with discipline rigorously applied by the Master, who was responsible to the Guardians.

Since 1997 the building has been used to house the impressive Thackray Medical Museum with its highlight being a real life Victorian Street and operating theatre. Its conversion from hospital to museum seems to have stirred a great deal of energy and the building is well known for paranormal activity including. A ghost of a woman in 18th century clothing has been witnessed waving to staff mysterious footsteps, often followed by a smell of urine or beer. Feelings of dread and depression in certain parts of the building, and in the reconstruction of the Victorian street a ghost of a man in a white coat has been witnessed many times, there have also been reports of intelligent poltergeist activity, such as knocks and bangs in response to ghost hunters calling out and asking for activity.
Dare you join the Simply Ghost Nights team at The Thackray Medical Museum Leeds, on the 27th of August.

The Tale Of The Unseen Hand That Slapped Mark A Brave Ghost Hunter On The Face.

On a recent ghost hunting event with the Simply Ghost Nights team, we were holding a small vigil in a large country hall. We were attempting spirit communication through glass divination, and having no luck what so ever. We then all held hands in the group to build up energy, we were still calling out when one of the group called Mark left the group to investigate a strange noise in the corner of the room.

As he walked over one of Mark’s friends said jokingly in a very quiet whisper “hit me on the head, I’m the one with the bald head” as Mark had a bald head and his friend had a full set of hair it was clear that the gesture although in jest was made so that the ghostly population of Smithhills Hall, would then indeed hit Mark on the head. As Mark was no longer in the circle and was definitely out of ear shot of the group as he investigated the earlier noise, Mark suddenly exclaimed, “oh I’ve been hit on my face” no sound similar to a slap was heard, but Mark’s heart felt plea certainly was.

On inspection of his face it was found to have the red outline of something very like three fingers across his face, Mark stated that he felt the pain but did not hear a thing just like us, who were still sat in a circle absolutely amazed at the proceedings. It was suggested that we attempt ghostly interaction through glass divination, the group began calling out and using the glass on a Ouija board.

The glass started to move and after a while the group managed to gleam the information that the actual spirit that had indeed hit Mark on the head, was in fact called Charles and he was playing along with the group and he was sorry for causing the red hand prints on Marks face. We also learned that Charles had worked at the hall many years ago, although he could not remember the year he was born he remembered the year he had died and it was 1854. We felt sorry for Charles as he said through the Ouija board that he had, had a hard life and suffered terribly with many ailments and his health was never the best. The group felt compassion and sorrow for Charles as he had suffered a poor life on the earthly plane. He did however inform us that he moved backwards and forwards between the spirit world and our world, and he was reunited with his wife Sarah and two children, Robert and Charles, He continued that they lost six other children too and they too were with them in the spirit world spirit too.

Our pity for Mark’s injury soon passed ant the group were more concerned with the well being of Charles as we watched intently as the glass and also K2 spikes proceeded to be used in

Ghost Hunting at R.A.F Holmpton, Hull, with Simply Ghost Nights - 15th Apr 2011

As we drove into the car park to the R.A.F base, we were greeted by James our host for the night, and what a great host James was, he made all of us welcome with his amiable and easy approach to the nights experience.
We initially begun a whole group vigil in the cinema room where we were listened intently to spirit rapping’s in the room, and on request too. The spirit of Jimmy a former inhabitant of the base made his presence known to the group, through divination. One group heard the ghostly murmur of a spectral being in the weapons room, and the spirit of an American service man who had worked at the base many years ago, came through in a glass divination experiment, he claimed to be a spirit gentleman called Deon Jefferson.

At first glance at R.A.F Holmpton all you see is basically a service hut, but through the doorway you enter a labyrinth of corridors, myriad of rooms in this subterranean world that is 80 feet below ground. Our intrepid ghost hunters took full advantage of the initial walk around the building to acclimatise with the building itself. After the initial walk around the building and a quick refreshment break it was chocks away and the start of the ghost hunt.

Another group experienced table tipping in the medical bay and were astounded when one of the ghost hunters claimed to have seen a shadow move right in front of her face. In another group the table literally walked towards each of the ghost hunters on request, this had Andy, Tracey, and Mick shocked at the sight of the table chasing them down the corridor. A group asked for the spirits to ring the bell that was hung on a wall in the corridor, and to their utter disbelief they all heard the sound of metal hitting metal from the direction of the bell. There was not a soul to be seen and we can only assume that it was the unseeable hands from a spirit being, that duly obliged our pleads for them to ring the bell.

As the list of paranormal activity increased the 99.99% sceptic that was Michelle, stated that “things had happened that she could not comprehend or explain”. As we were again beaten by the clock on another eventful night with Simply Ghost Nights, and as we packed away all the equipment for the night, Mark summed up the nights experience, “if we can take home one nugget of paranormal evidence or one incident that makes you consider an afterlife, then what more can we ask for on a ghost hunting event ”.

The Night The Simply Ghost Nights Team, Communicated With Emily Bronte, From Beyond The Grave

What a night of paranormal activity we at Simply Ghost Nights experienced in the Black Bull Haworth, Bradford, England, which is in the centre of the world  famous novelists, the Bronte sisters country. They used to live in the parsonage which is in close proximity to the Black Bull.
On a recent ghost hunt, we had ghostly communication with a spirit from the other side, who claimed to be none other than Emily Bronte, with a group of ghost hunters who were participating in a glass divination experiment. In a vigil in the restaurant area, the group were participating in glass divination, they had gleamed that the spirit communicating with them was a lady, when they asked the lady to spell her first name. It spelt out, E.M.I.L.Y, and one of our ghost hunters exclaimed, “is it Emily Bronte”.

The glass moved to yes, this left the group ecstatic and delighted, the group continued at length communicating with the world famous author to their joy and amazement.

Everyone in the room felt both honoured and privileged to be communicating with such a world famous spirit. The group asked many questions and received many 'yes and no's' to their questions. We asked each ghost hunter who was part of the investigation using the glass, to remove their finger in turn as to rule out any tomfoolery. Everyone was satisfied that there was no trickery at all from anyone, the whole mood of the room was one of astonishment. This night was one that we would not forget in a hurry.

Ghost Hunting at Newcastle Keep, with Simply Ghost Nights.

Where do we start about Newcastle Keep, the whole night shocked the Simply Ghost Nights team on this paranormal investigation. It was an event that nightmares and films are made of, we experienced it all at Newcastle Keep, the good, the bad and the downright demonic, from table tipping, glass divination, amazing K2 spikes, and most frighteningly even some of our solid team members getting channelled. The Castle dominates much of the sky line as you approach up the hill, you look in awe at the workmanship and labour it would have took to have built the castle many years ago, however we would soon find out what hid below the veneered beauty of this building and what was waiting for us from the other side to greet us with a sinister side that would turn an event upside down and shock even the most hardened ghost hunter.

We were greeted by Paul who was our host for the night at Newcastle keep and an excellent host he was too, and he allowed us to view Newcastle from the turrets of the castle where we could see the city sprawling away in all directions of the compass, as we all took in the wonderful views of the city life at night it was time to start the ghost hunt event.

After a drink and a light refreshment break it was time to begin our journey into the unknown and leave the sanctuary of our world, and investigate the paranormal world of Newcastle Keep and see exactly what would a wait the Simply Ghost Nights team and our brave ghost hunters, we would soon find out. In the garrison room we were treated to some amazing table tipping by the spirit of a soldier, however what unfolded later in the Chapel not only shocked us but brought to the fore the power and the sinister side of the spirit world.

In the chapel we were investigating, one group of ghost hunters were around the séance table calling out, and some more were attempting communication with the K2s and achieving some very good results especially when they were playing a Latin chant. But all this paled in insignificance when Mark our paranormal investigator was found in the corner of the room in the chapel rocking to and fro as if from a scene from a movie, when asked how he was, Mark replied " I need to smash the table up, I feel so angry" for anyone who knows Mark this is totally out of character. After a chat Mark came around and confessed to have had little control over his emotions.

Then Mel one of the teams mediums announced that she felt immense anger towards Stuart and wanted to hit him, (these feelings are not uncommon towards Stuart allegedly), again after a quick chat Mel returned back to her bubbly self and stated how the feelings had suddenly came. At this point the K2s were literally going crazy with activity, and the torches were turning themselves on and off on request and there was a feeling of dread in the room that we all felt.

Meanwhile on the séance table Rosey, Shelly, Paul, Ann, Clare and Melanie were making contact through glass divination with an alleged murderer, then all of a sudden behind them a chair moved slightly with no one in it, Paul suggested that this was indeed the murders favourite chair and that nobody could sit in it, the glass moved to yes. Philip our intrepid paranormal investigator bravely sat in the chair as during the séance the group were warned that this murderous spirit would harm anyone who sat in his chair. Alas Philip sat in the chair, with everyone else preoccupied with the séance and the K2 investigations it was good ten minutes until Rosey noticed Philip slumped in the chair bent over doubled up. The group called out to Philip as he sat up his eye’s glazed and Philip started to mumble incoherently at first until he said shaking "I'm going to cry" as we lead Philip away from the table and out of the chapel. As we spoke and reassured Philip he said he didn’t know what had come over him. It was as though this darkened entity had attempted to divide and conquer the Simply Ghost nights team and failed.

After a break and a review of the chapel investigation we agreed this was probably the most threatened the team had felt for a long time from the world of spirit. As we finished our glorious buffet it was time to carry on the investigations. One group had table tipping and glass divination in the King's chamber the spirit of a knight made his presence known, and a grey mist was seen to rise from the floor in this room too as well as dark shadow was noticeable from the toilet room inside the King's chamber.

As the time flew by yet again it was time to call it a wrap and the nights proceedings to a close, we knew we had been in a huge battle with the ghostly spectre of a frightening and dark nature, and won the battle for the greatness of good and god and as we left Newcastle Keep we vowed to return later in the year, to face our demons yet again.

The Night Simply Ghost Nights, Made Spirit Contact With Emily Bronte

Ghost hunting in Yorkshire at Armley Mills, Leeds, 13th 2011 August, With Simply Ghost Nights

This creepy looking old Mill dates back to the sixteenth century, Colonel Thomas Lloyd purchased the building in 1788 and planned to own the worlds biggest woollen mill. Then in 1804 the mill was once again sold to a Benjamin Gott. Unfortunately, just one year later the mill was completely destroyed in a huge fire, Benjamin Gott then vowed to rebuild his woollen empire and using fireproof materials to ensure fire did not strike twice. It is this impressive building that still stands today as a testament to the vow Benjamin Gott made, that we will conduct our paranormal investigation into the spirit world.

In the days of the British Industrial Revolution the working conditions in the mills were extremely poor and dangerous to say the least. The mill owners employed children from as young as four to work for them and often due to the need for them to operate certain machines. They would have toiled in horrendous conditions for so little pay. You can imagine children and heavy industrial machinery do not mix too well which would certainly have caused many deaths and serious injuries among the children working at the mill.

Do the spirits of the forgotten children still remain at the mill toiling away? Do the pitiful men and women who also worked those dangerous machines? And what about the factory overseers, do they still administer their tough punishment to the workers at the mill? So come on a ghost hunting event to see if we can find the answers.

The mill eventually closed it's doors in 1969, and the mill is now a museum, still with the same machinery in place, and even now staff at the museum have heard and seen many things that they cannot explain.
When two members of our team explored the museum in the daytime we both had feelings of sadness and it also had a very heavy atmosphere in certain parts. We both felt as though we were being watched and this was in the middle of the afternoon, so who knows what could happen in the dead of night on a ghost hunt in Armley mills when the spirits come out to play!

How do you attempt a seance?

The Ouija Board can be used in a controlled environment, the use of a glass or planchette are also used with the ouija board as an instrument of communicating. It is said the glass or planchette are moved by spirits to spell words or numbers. The brave ghost hunters place a finger on a glass or a planchette and ask the spirits around them to move the glass. When the spirits are ready to communicate they surely will, by spelling names and places to you, by means of moving the glass.

Ghost Hunting At Gainsborough Old Nick Theatre, With Simply Ghost Nights 16th July 2011.

We must once again thank John the custodian of The Old Nick Theatre for his sterling effort in making us all welcome once again, and in helping the team run the event so smoothly.

The one question that the Simply Ghost Nights team asked was could Old Nick Theatre live up to it’s reputation as one of Gainsborough’s most haunted locations? On our previous two visits to this lovely old building, the spirit world had provided so much paranormal activity that it now holds a special place in our hearts. Would we be disappointed, what was in store for our brave ghost hunters, would the spirits of Gainsborough refuse to entertain us? Basically… no, we were treated to an array of paranormal activity that only endeared the Simply Ghost Nights team to this location even more.

In the theatre a group were enthralled when the table literally went mad in a table tipping experiment, so much so that it actually spun on open leg to the amazement of Darren, Vi and Mel. Also in the same vigil the group were delighted when the K2 metre lit up like a Christmas tree on request to the group’s questions.
Hazel shrieked when she felt the cold hands of the spirit world pull on her trouser and the feeling of her face been squeezed. In the cells Rosey and Sandra spotted an extremely bright light on Rosey’s leg for around five seconds then strangely disappear into thin air.

Also in a vigil in the cells Michaela, Leah, Jamie, and Jess were amazed when making spirit contact with a former police officer, who had worked at the police station many years previously. Stephen, Karen, Paul and Isabelle also found an Ouija board experiment fascinating when they communicated with another former police officer named Edward.
Interestingly Wayne, Angela, Norman and Keith all stated at the beginning of the night that they were all major sceptics in the paranormal and it would take something extraordinary to change their minds regarding ghostly going ons and the afterlife. At the end of the night all four of them declared that the nights events had opened up their eyes and that what they had seen at Gainsborough had indeed given them some food for thought regarding paranormal activity and the possibility of an afterlife.

When on an event if a sceptical ghost hunter can experience something during the course of a ghost hunting event, that it could alter there view on the paranormal world then the spirit world have truly obliged in providing some form of ghostly activity that may ask more questions than answers for any ghost hunter. For this reason that is why the Simply Ghost Nights team adore the Old Nick theatre as the spirits there provide so much paranormal activity to entertain all our brave ghost hunters.
